Re: Highway travelling at slower speeds

I've been that driver who drove slow to save range on a freeway; pretty sure I pissed off everyone behind me. I was justified because I still ran out of charge before my destination.
I'm never doing another road trip again unless I am 100% confident that I can do it at or near the speed limit.

Renting EVs (short term)

What options are there at the moment for renting an EV? I'm looking in Victoria, for what it matters, but I'm also curious about options in other states.
When I look at the major rental companies, the closest I see is a hybrid or PHEV.

Re: Importing a Leaf into Western Australia

But there is no warranty either. You could be buying a lemon. But I have bought plenty of ICE cars from Japan over the years. The better quality of broker the better the result. While not as extensive as for a new car, there are statutory warranties for used cars bought from dealerships. If you buy...

Huh, must be composed by those researchers live in Melbourne or Tassie. So irrelevant for other users in Oz. Ability not to worry that one's battery degrade due to heat (instead of heating internal cabin issue) is the bees knees for Oz. Melbourne has the record for the hottest day in any Australian...

Re: Numberplate ID for EV and Hydrogen Vehicles

A risk occurs to me. A hybrid, according to these regulations, will get labelled as an EV; if emergency services rely on that label to help assess fire danger, then they won't know there is also a petrol tank.

Re: Numberplate ID for EV and Hydrogen Vehicles

Makes sense to me. I've always felt it was odd that hybrids and LPG vehicles had their symbols on number plates but EVs didn't, at least in Victoria. Although to be fuel-agnostic, I think petrol cars should get one too. One thing I would have thought they would do, but apparently didn't, is to requi...

Your link doesn't work. I'd guess you copy-pasted it from another site, but didn't realise it had abbreviated itself.

Hi. Im in Sylvania Sydney interested in your VX-1. I am having trouble with the PM feature of this website due to a lack of ever having used it before it seems. How can we be in touch please? I think you'll find sending a PM easier now. I recall there being something preventing users from sending P...

Similar with the e-NV200; if I can see evidence that any dealers have them new or used, There are two e-NV200s on carsales.com.au at the moment. This link should give all the electric vehicles currently listed (54) https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/dealer/private/demo/electric-fueltype/?sortby=~Pric...

Re: EVs available in Australia (list)

I think the Fonzarelli's are still available new, they sent me an email last week. Should grey imports be a separate category? You have the minicab i-MiEV there, Nissan e-NV200 and some later model Leafs have also been imported. I think there are a few european plug in hybrids missing too, definite...

EVs available in Australia (list)

Just thought it would be useful to have a list of EVs that can currently be bought in this country. I'm far from perfect, so if you spot anything missing or mistaken, or you can think of something directly related worth adding, then leave a comment and I'll update the original post. For more details...

Can confirm that TimH's iMiEV is silver. Nope! Not sure where you got silver from? See below: https://i.imgur.com/PggwEro.jpg I read the titles of PMs I've gotten on this site, and a combination of bad memory and assumptions lead me to think you were the guy from SE QLD who bought my 2011 iMiEV tha...

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

While the difference here is more than I'd expect from this one factor, I know heat makes a difference in range. You'll get less electric range in winter than summer, although I don't know how much less given Australia has relatively mild winters.

Re: Win a Trek e-Bike

My only trouble with the terms and conditions is the "use of data": "Personal data which you provide when you enter this competition could be used for future Trek marketing activity." It doesn't say whether that means sharing data with third parties for marketing purposes. I'd shoot them an email, b...

Renault Australia doesn't appear to have been heavily pushing them with advertising yet. I don't watch TV and so don't know if they've been advertising there or not, but I have heard at least one ad for Renault EVs on the radio. So its more than nothing, although still less than many other cars, an...

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

I guess if they manage to get it here before the Model 3 they will want to capitalise on that by selling it at more than Model 3 prices. More like equal it. With the current exchange rate, I''d be surprised if the entry level Model 3 came in at under $55 000, and I think $60 000 is more likely. Thi...

...When asked about warranty they said 12 months. Que? So that means that a replacement battery has a much shorter warranty than the one that comes with a new vehicle? Does that mean they could get away with putting cheap cells in a replacement battery module that crap themselves after 13 months? I...

CSIRO announce quite some time ago that they were working on this. They weren't specific in that article what they had achieved recently.
