That's a great idea to list the manufacturers and I suggest you add all PHEV makers as well, e.g. Volvo, Audi, and Mercedes Benz. Perhaps try to cover any vehicles that the ICER is likely to see plugged in as he drives around carparks with his newly discovered interest in EV spotting (one can only h...

PHEVS in Oz, future EVs
jonescg wrote: Otherwise I'd say the only genuine PHEVs are the Holden Volt, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV and the BMW i8.
I missed this in my earlier posting so am now asking any viewers to see whether there is consensus: "what design criteria do you think is necessary for a PHEV to be classed as genuine ?"

PHEVS in Oz, future EVs
To my mind, if it has an ICE but can also be powered by an electric motor and is rechargeable by plugging in then that defines it as a PHEV regardless of electric range. Furthermore, for people who drive very short distances and can recharge at home, even a very low electric ranged PHEV may be suffi...

Great news! I just checked plugshare and the Warringah Mall charger doesn't seem to show up? The 3112 wall outlet does show but not the Chargepoint charger? It is showing on Chargepoint (when logged in) but as "real time status unknown". The BMW APP also shows this location. http://forums.aeva.asn....

Hi Bladecar, Carindale uses the J1772 connector so presumably would be of no use to vehicles with other plug types. For those of us with J1772 connection it is currently free and, for my vehicle, 2 hours of charging whilst I was shopping would completely charge my battery and give me up to 30km of r...

BMW 330e Pluginhybrid
Over the Summer months I drove the 330e with air-con set at 24-25 degrees Celsius and wherever possible in “max e-drive” (most of my trips were short hence fully electric with only a couple of petrol fuelled trips to the coast). On occasions I used battery power to precondition/cool the car remotely...

BMW 330e Pluginhybrid
Recently, after fully exhausting the battery, I filled the petrol tank then completed a “petrol/hybrid” outing of 211 kilometres. The BMW remote APP showed that the 330e used 5.5 l/100km for 98 motorway km on the way, 10.7 l/100km for 15 urban km while there, and 5.3 l/100km for 98 motorway km on th...

http://forums.aeva.asn.au/uploads/4280/total.jpg This screen on my BMW Remote APP shows an accumulation of electric kilometres driven to date and it includes regenerated electric distance as well as that from recharging the battery (I’ve been “plugging in” once or twice most days). The ...

So far the BMW 330e PHEV I recently purchased is meeting my expectations and I’m enjoying the serenity when driving in electric mode. Over several trips using “max e-drive”, I’ve travelled distances between 24 and 28 kilometres on a full charge. While I will mostly be doing shorter local trips, this...

It does look good and here is some older musing on it including a bit about BMW regenerative braking:

I wonder what percentage of forum users have an actual electric vehicle, or at least a phev. Of the contributors to this thread, so far it's 80% http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif Perhaps the question needs to be raised as a separate topic to draw from a larger audience ? P.S. I am too o...

Yes, you're right. I forgot that people might run the car on electricity only, at times, and that would be new for them. I suppose it would either entice them towards a battery car, or be proof to them that a battery only car is a gutless, short-term wonder :) That's pretty much why I am considerin...

Apparently Mercedes are at last offering the C350e, GLE500e, and S500e Plug in Hybrids in Australia: Here is an article I just read: http://www.caradvice.com.au/461966/mercedes-benz-c350e-gle500e-s500e-plug-in-hybrids-on-sale-in-australia/ Hopefully these additions to the range will help a few of my...

Would you consider a volt wattsaname ? I would certainly consider the 2017 Volt PHEV if it becomes available in the near future. I see first generation Volts advertised here from time to time but I'm wanting to buy "new" as I'm keen to have the latest iteration of whichever vehicle model I choose.

From the admins: our apologies to Wattsaname; his post about his test drive (3 posts back, 2 weeks ago now) somehow was overlooked, and didn't get approved. He's off approval now. Welcome, Wattsa! Sorry for the delay. No worries (I just thought the security check was taking a while) http://forums.a...

I managed to have a test drive on the weekend and, apart from being exceedingly quiet in electric only mode, it drove just like a normal vehicle. Because it used electric mode to start off, there was no jolt when the petrol motor kicked in and overall a very smooth ride. Around town, it would be pos...

BMW 330e Pluginhybrid
I have been doing a lot of reading about PHEVs and, to meet my average local daily travel need of 25km with a couple of interstate road trips per year thrown in, I narrowed the field down to Outlander PHEV, A3 e-tron, C350e, and 330e (not as much choice in Australia as in other countries). I've brie...
