Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.
Just bought one it is a 2017 and at full charge it reads 33km range available. Not happy but unsure what to do to be honest. The quickest and easiest if you don't have the OBD gadget is to set the charge cost to 1 in the system and then charge it from empty. If the charging cost is around 9 you hav...

What to replace i-MiEV with?

Actually, they are not the same. The Outlander uses LEV40 cells

What to replace i-MiEV with?
From memory last person I spoke to that contacted MM was talking more like $7000 all up for a new battery and asotiated gear. One other advantage is depreciation. Any new car has it in spades and most EVs have it in bucket loads. Given most of us got our imiev's new or near new for 1/2 RRP or some ...

Cost of Servicing iMiEV 2012
Similar story with Outlander PHEV. Was quoted $880.00 for the 24mth/30,000km service. According to service schedule in the handbook, it is basically an oil/filter change, replace brake fluid and pollen filter. Rest is just look, tap, kick shake. I guess the EV qualified service centres are trying to...

Buying a used Outlander PHEV
A question for the Outlander PHEV drivers... has anyone worked out how many km they get per kwH of charging? I get 6 km/per kwH on my Leaf, but the PHEV would be heavier. Just trying to work out whether the extra cost of getting set up to use off-peak electricity, at half the price per kwH, would b...

Buying a used Outlander PHEV
The official figure is 134Wh/km. My real life figure in suburban use is around 200Wh/km so that makes it 5km/kWh. I charge at off-peak rates (around 10c/kWh) and when it shows no bar on the battery level, it takes around 5 hours and 9kWh to charge.

Buying a used Outlander PHEV
I use the Jaycar one which works very well, it also has an on-off switch so I leave it plugged in. I did get a cheapy ebay one which I liked because it was a low profile plug, however, first time I plugged it in it gave me a scary message "EV system requires service"......never tried it again http:/...

Buying a used Outlander PHEV
Just had my first year anniversary with the PHEV and still like the car a lot! Bought as an ex Mitsubishi fleet car with 10,000km on it, now 21,000. Here are some stats: When I test drove the car before buying it, I asked them to fully charge it and I then drove it until the engine came on. Got 48km...

They could also do a software update on the old model and have the ECO button do the same (if they really wanted to

Fuel efficient tip for driving the Outlander
That's seems pretty close. When I drive the battery down to no bars on the meter,
I usually get around 45km in light traffic. To recharge from there takes around 9kWh, so that is actually 200Wh/km........

Hi,
Actually, the 134Wh/km has nothing to do with hybrid mode. It is specified for the EV mode. I do think it is quite optimistic and would be difficult to achieve.
It seems to align somewhat with the official EV range figure, if you assume an usable battery capacity of around 8kWh.

Chademo charger for the Outlander?
I wouldn't get too hung up about superfast charging capability. It's not that sort of car. It is certainly very desirable/essential to have it in an EV, but not the Outlander. Besides, from what I hear it can be a bit rough on the battery.

100,000 PHEV Outlanders sold world wide
2000 sales in Oz, 20K in the UK, 10 x the sales with about double the population. One reason could be that average car trip distances in the UK are likely much shorter than here in Oz, but that's just speculation on my part. That said, when I lived there in the 80's, pommy friends were aghast that ...

Chademo charger for the Outlander?
Had mine since November and put about 5000km on it, filling it up 3 times so far. In my mind, it is the most viable electric vehicle there is right now, especially at the price they're selling. It is the ideal vehicle for the daily short "mum's taxi" duties and yet is still very capable of extended ...

Interesting calculation! You're likely to be a physics man? Incidentally, the PHEV is a bit over 1800kg, so, probably close to 2t with a fat driver in it http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley36.gif The official energy usage from memory is 134Wh/km, I guess that is on a level road and it does n...

Fuel efficient tip for driving the Outlander
I think of the paddles purely as a means of "downshifting" as one would in a manual or auto car when going downhill. Do bear in mind by selecting B5 to slow down that the brake lights do not come on! You will find that the default (no indication) is B2, that also seems to provide maximum regenerativ...
