I see you chose the "adventure" video.

It was a "no brainer" choice for me:-).

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

My lovely LEAF is for sale as I have taken delivery of a Tesla model 3. All the specs are on the carsales site along with LEAF Spy info. I can deliver (love to:-). Price is negotiable. https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2012-nissan-leaf-ze0-auto/SSE-AD-6586583/?Cr=0&gts=SSE-AD-6586583&...

Re: ABS and Autohold Question

syntaxfx "Hmmm. On the Tiguan, just pressing the accelerator releases the brakes after stopping with auto-hold." I had an 'interesting' experience with my LEAF. I was remote, rural and stopped at a gate on a slight down slope. I applied the (electric) hand brake and started to exit. Due t...

Re: Aussie electric vehicle sales triple in 2019

I am waiting for the price of the VW once they are (first other than Tesla) producing at scale. Designing a car and production line for 200,000 cars per year gets a much smaller cost of components and final car than a production run of 20,000 per year. Also the EV is usually a superior trim to the c...

I would be buying direct fro China. Just a few to start then if the gig works I'd get more for distribution and spares. The first one is dumb enough for me. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/HOFA-Electric-Car-EV-PHEV-Charge_60681797924.html?spm=a2700.7724838.2017115.557.29601da1195ZIq https://w...

Re: Simple (to use) wall mount =<7kW open network

Thanks for the feedback Rusdy. The EVSE with Mennekes socket is around AUS$500 landed so not too bad. Possibly/probably cheaper in quantity. I prefer this arrangement with the EVSE in the wall unit over the 15A wall socket as the Type 2 to Type 1 cable is easier to carry around and deploy rather tha...

Simple (to use) wall mount =<7kW open network

My (2012) LEAF currently gives me 70km highway range, increasing to (maybe) 100km after upcoming warranty battery replacement. Being the adventurous type with (retired) time on my hands, I enjoy taking my "Restricted Range Electric Vehicle" (RREV) on regular long trips. Around Australia in...

Re: Regenerative braking effect compared to traditional braking?

When the wheels are barely or not moving you can electronically apply forward or reverse power to brake or hold on an up/down slope without using mechanical brakes.

I sold the first lot of 8 as two sets of 12V to tech savvy friends for off grid systems. I am in regular touch with both and they are very happy. I provided the D...

Re: Off-grid EVSE

Ahhhh. Too hard for me to follow. I want to be able to tell the EVSE what current draw info to send to the LEAF. That is zero (off), 6A, 7A, 8A....7A, 6A, zero. Say over a one hour time. Then back up again if sufficient solar. I would monitor my batteries and make the decision of the amps required. ...

Re: Around Australia Electric Highway

The Around Australia Electric Highway is suitable only for EVs with 300+ km range. They (AEVA members) have done well to get the 3 phase sockets in lots of places such as roadhouses. Long range EVs with generous on-board chargers can do really well with this infrastructure. However, my LEAF (and othe...

Re: Around Australia Electric Highway

I often see a mention for this and "Qld electric highway" being for any electric vehicle. There is now, and there always will be, EVs with 100km range.

The WA "electric highway" works well with DCFC spaced around 80km apart.

That particular service station was already into EV charging a few hears ago. I charged my LEAF there (with an extension lead) in August 2016 on my way from Collie to Beverley Agriculture Show.

If anyone has the time and knowledge to answer a few questions I would be sincerely grateful. 1. I am reasonably handy but not a mechanic nor an electrician. (I can build and fix things.) How much of the work could I possibly do myself? 2. What kind of a set-up would you recommend? I’d like to have...

Not wanting to sound paranoid, but....

If I wanted to steal your login and password (in case you used the same one for banking), I would hijack a program that accesses the web and present a forged web page of the same (copied) design. And ask for a confirmation of username/password.

Dyslexic explains it.

Also your "3" was "E" backwards which, I think, would appear ok as a "3".

By total coincidence, my yahoo username is j3ffj which I created yonks ago "just to be different".

Re: Off-grid EVSE

Yes, I can see that it would be like PWM with the controller cutting in and out. As I would be doing the EVSE controller from scratch (PIC microprocessor) I much prefer to "follow the sun" with 1A resolution. I am happy to use the battery voltage as the indication of state of charge. I hav...
