Re: Regenerative braking effect compared to traditional braking?

When the wheels are barely or not moving you can electronically apply forward or reverse power to brake or hold on an up/down slope without using mechanical brakes.

Re: AVASS cells 2nd lot

Kurt isn't selling them, Mike is ☺. I can email you guys and put you in touch. How did the first set of 8 go for you Jeff? Thanks Chris. I sold the first lot of 8 as two sets of 12V to tech savvy friends for off grid systems. I am in regular touch with both and they are very happy. I provided the D...

Re: AVASS cells 2nd lot

For Kurt and Chris. I would like to go ahead and get these cells and use Chris's account for transport. If they are still available: Kurt, how can I pay you? Chris, how can I pay you? Kurt, can you liaise with Chris and get them to me please? I feel I am too far away to be effective for this exercis...

I am interested in the lot. However, I am in Emerald Queensland. Any idea of cost to freight the lot?

Thanks,

Re: Off-grid EVSE

Ahhhh. Too hard for me to follow. I want to be able to tell the EVSE what current draw info to send to the LEAF. That is zero (off), 6A, 7A, 8A....7A, 6A, zero. Say over a one hour time. Then back up again if sufficient solar. I would monitor my batteries and make the decision of the amps required. ...

Re: Around Australia Electric Highway

The Around Australia Electric Highway is suitable only for EVs with 300+ km range. They (AEVA members) have done well to get the 3 phase sockets in lots of places such as roadhouses. Long range EVs with generous on-board chargers can do really well with this infrastructure. However, my LEAF (and othe...

Re: Around Australia Electric Highway

I often see a mention for this and "Qld electric highway" being for any electric vehicle. There is now, and there always will be, EVs with 100km range.

The WA "electric highway" works well with DCFC spaced around 80km apart.

That particular service station was already into EV charging a few hears ago. I charged my LEAF there (with an extension lead) in August 2016 on my way from Collie to Beverley Agriculture Show.

Well done Matt, Ali. Thanks Geoff. Williams local Council was extremely friendly when I was there last year. 240V outlet available in the Lions Park (PlugShare) near the bridge for us little EVers.

Re: Classic EV Conversion - Daimler 250 (V8)

If anyone has the time and knowledge to answer a few questions I would be sincerely grateful. 1. I am reasonably handy but not a mechanic nor an electrician. (I can build and fix things.) How much of the work could I possibly do myself? 2. What kind of a set-up would you recommend? I’d like to have...

Not wanting to sound paranoid, but....

If I wanted to steal your login and password (in case you used the same one for banking), I would hijack a program that accesses the web and present a forged web page of the same (copied) design. And ask for a confirmation of username/password.

Dyslexic explains it.

Also your "3" was "E" backwards which, I think, would appear ok as a "3".

By total coincidence, my yahoo username is j3ffj which I created yonks ago "just to be different".

In the old forum format I could then select "Mark all as read". Is this available?

Re: Off-grid EVSE

Yes, I can see that it would be like PWM with the controller cutting in and out. As I would be doing the EVSE controller from scratch (PIC microprocessor) I much prefer to "follow the sun" with 1A resolution. I am happy to use the battery voltage as the indication of state of charge. I have a separa...

Re: Off-grid EVSE

As I understand the issue, this regulator may solve the problem of charging the vehicle only when the main battery bank is full or above a predetermined voltage. Any processes can also be turned off when either the main or secondary battery banks drop to a certain voltage or SOC. If you google Plas...

Hi. I just got back to reading this forum. Since the layout change I had struggled to find the "new posts" option. The answer is NO, I have not yet built this charger. I have moved my base temporarily to my newly acquired sapphire mining claim in Sapphire, Queensland. So far, I have installed just e...

Anyone run their EV from home battery storage?

As we've talked about on the other thread, you are most likely going to be stymied by the 6 Amp lower limit on EVSE. The Leaf/iMiev chargers most likely will not go below this. I wonder if another idea might be to create a low current CHAdeMO charger - totally current controllable? I have installed...

Anyone run their EV from home battery storage?

I seem to remember this EVSE project on an other thread. I would be very interested in a unit . I run my standalone solar with a PLC but not enough I/Os (and knowledge) to go that far. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/viewtopic.php?title=offgrid-evse&t=5122 I will be calling for expressions of interest as...

Anyone run their EV from home battery storage?

Larry Mudd charges his iMiEV from stored PV, and I believe Jeffthewalker (Jeff Johnson) charges his Leaf from an off-grid system in Beaudesert Qld. Yep, charging from solar/storage as we speak. I am corresponding with eMotorWerks with an aim to modify their JuiceBox EVSE so that it charges at a var...

Off-grid EVSE

All very interesting but currently way to technical for me. First I wish somebody would answer the following question: is there a basic problem to charge my iMiEV with a run of the mill DC to 240 V AC inverter (off grid solar +batts). Can it damage the onboard charger or the batteries of the EV...

Please give my apologies.

I went into town (Beaudesert) yesterday and I won't have enough time for a full charge from my off-grid setup.

See you (all) next time.
