Re: HP in EV vs HP in ICE

For the all out horsepower, Rimac battery and drivetrain x 2. Could probably fit that in a big old Holden, just don't have a million bucks for the components from Rimac. I'm interested in what you are discussing, please, tell more To do the burn out comp you would need to add flames coming out of e...

Re: HP in EV vs HP in ICE

A Tesla did the go to whoa in 2016. An electric vehicle could win that very easily if done to the level of ICE cars that currently win. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLebwnN6zNY The burnout has to go for a minute, again easily done with the right EV setup. It is a pipedream to build my BMW to be a...

Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

Why risk such things going badly when a simple noise generator would alert those on foot there was a vehicle approaching? Mike beat me to it, but my ICE Golf cruising at 40km/h would be as quiet as your Prius, sometimes I can't tell if the engine is running from inside the car. We could take a leaf...

Re: Cheapest Commuting Challenge

Looking at the numbers here I'd roughly hit the same 5c km on my converted 350w rear hub drive bike which has around 4300km on it. I only just got back on it this week after a long hiatus. I'm in Canberra so the times work out each way about 15 minutes in the car and about 30 minutes on the bike for...

Yeah, I am sooooo hanging to see the in-car. Looks all video is locked down for a $4.99 streaming price but it's not clear if it is only while the stream is live.

Re: FS: Complete parts to make EV

Hi Kel, working out whether I have finances for these parts to kick my project off which stalled ages ago, it's a bargain! Assuming a 1k Zilla and the spare motor is an Impulse 9 too?

I'll see if I can ask someone at work about these claims. There's some journal articles linked below about graphene and supercapacitors for those people that understand more than me about it.

Hydrogen

It would make sense when we have too much energy to use - e.g. off-peak when we have enough solar for 100% of peak load. And at that point you might as well pump water uphill for hydro later on Yeah less trouble and more efficiency. All this talk of exporting our renewable energy while we still bur...

Hydrogen will no doubt be a part of the future of energy and electric vehicles, especially with renewable energy powering production. This research is interesting: CSIRO research I'm not however a fan of fuel cells in cars, it makes as little sense to me as a hybrid. I think the application in indus...

I'll address the car issues in this thread. VW sucks. I have one of the affected dieselgate vehicles, but it has another problem which can be seen in the video below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpVBr2D1Y0U I bought it just out of warranty with 75k km. I bought it because VW raved that it got th...

The full Hyundai Ioniq range headed down under

They would potentially be cannibalising a large chunk of revenue with regards to service, parts and repairs given the decreased need with EV's. Yes somewhat, but that is also a bit of a myth in the real world with brand new cars, Leaf scheduled servicing is more expensive than Hyundai i30 over 3 ye...
