Installing Traffic Jam Assistant on a BMW i3

I was wondering if anyone has tried installing the Traffic Jam Assistant function to their BMW i3 in Australia. Quidzel make a module which is installed inside the steering wheel which gives a signal to say the driver is touching the steering wheel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eX8d7UxZFs . Did ...

Monitoring charge power, kWh on your BMW i3

Want to know if anyone has been able to monitor their charge power (kW) and energy (kWh) on their BMW i3. Preferably using the OBD2 port so monitoring can be done when using a fast DC charger.

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

Today I charged my BMW i3 at Stockland Wetherill Park https://www.plugshare.com/location/130447 using my Type 2 to type 1 plug adapter. Once again I got the error "Mains power too low". So I tried doing it with the doors locked and it did not work. Then after some persisting stuffing around I found ...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

Maybe but I would have expected the Tesla charger LED to blink if it had a fault.
I tested my adapter cable at Stanhope village shopping centre yesterday and it worked ok. https://www.plugshare.com/location/137108

It could well be that the mains power is too low....
It does not make any sense. The Tesla destination charger is rated for 32 amps, three phase as marked on the rating plate.

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

Found a Tesla charger where my adaptor would not work at Gosford Motor Inn. Just kept getting the message "Mains power too low". Maybe this charger was not set to legacy mode. Did not try it but google says it might have worked if I had locked the car before plugging in. Maybe next time... https://w...

Re: Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772

The 220 ohm resistor tells the charging station that you are using a 32 amp cable. Since your GPO is only rated at 15 amps you may want to change the PP resistor value to 1500 ohms. Just to be on the safe side. Assuming you will be using a level 1 EVSE cable to plug into the 15A GPO. 5.000V (no exte...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

Thanks for the info. I have bought a type 2 to type 1 adapter cable 32A from EVSE Australia. I have cut off 11mm from the face of the type 2 plug using a battery 4 in handheld grinder with a cutting disk whilst the plug was held in a bench vice. Finished it to make a flat face with a linisher. Used ...

Setec Power tell me they sell stacks of these adaptors to Norway. They also distribute the same adaptor to www.evseadapters.com.

They sent me a photo of all these adaptors going to Europe

Setec make a CCS Combo 2 to CCS Combo 1 Adaptor and there should be others as well - http://www.setec-power.com/china/ccs-co ... -1-adapter
Thanks. Looks good.
Can anybody confirm that they actually work in Australia with a BMW i3?
They quoted me US$1000 plus delivery. :(

I tried to DC fast charge my BMW i3 at Mittagong RSL https://www.plugshare.com/location/166796. I found that this charger only uses CCS type 2 so I could not do DC fast charge. My BMW i3 only uses a CCS type 1 plug. Does anybody know if there are any options for me? Adaptor cable? Looks like I will ...

Yes, our patches are free and open-source. Yes, we would prefer that Voltronics would fix the bugs and implement the improvements in their source code for their factory firmware. They might do that. Hello Sir Thanks for your reply and suggestion. We will provide these information to our technical r...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Alternatively, you could tell them that yes, the problem was apparently caused by updating to main firmware 73.00. But it is fixed now, because you have reflashed with Coulomb and Weber's patched firmware 73.00b. Or if you want to keep your life simple, you could just say it is fixed now because yo...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

UPDATE: The inverter works but the SCC no longer works. After an unsuccessful try at downloading a firmware update to the SCC I checked the plugs and this time I actually read the PCB markings and realised that I had the two four pin plugs swapped between the LCD board and the SCC for the CAN. Now ...

Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Under these conditions, I don't think you can update the SCC firmware. I assume you've checked for ≥ 60 VDC at the PV input with a multimeter? Yeap, measured about 100v DC. A command prompt window isn't quite the same as MS-DOS, but they appear to work much the same from the user's point of view. J...

[ Edit Coulomb: Arrgh! I've edited instead of quoted again. Sigh. Most of the post is missing, sorry. ]

The SCC firmware is showing as 00000.00 and PV volts=0 and PV watts=0 during the day. It's like the SCC is dead.

Installing the firmware update 73.00b made the error 90 disappear and the inverter section is now working but the SCC part no longer works. Any advice? Re: PIP-4048MS inverter

Unfortunately, if I'm right, you'll have to take it up with your supplier, and ask pointed questions about the legality of the firmware. Unfortunately also, again if I'm right, the firmware will have locked out firmware updating. My inverter is still communicating with Watchpower. I have sent an em...

I hope your battery cabinet is fire-proofed. I use 54.7v for bulk charge and 53.7v for float charge.
