Re: CCS 1 BMW i3's
CCS1 to CCS2 cables are getting cheaper. Just saying there is a cheaper option. AU$637.66 on AliExpress. About half the price they used to be.

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters
I just upgraded my old PIP4048MS (purchased September 2015) with a Victron Energy MultiPlus II Inverter Charger 48 5000 70-50 IP21. The SCC in my PIP4048MS smoked itself about a year ago and MppSolar will not supply me with a new SCC as the inverter is too old. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Victron-En...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger
One of the country Victoria motel I visit have their charger set to Tesla only and are willing to let me open it and change the switches, but I would not attempt it without knowing which position the 2 micro-switches need to be set at. https://photos.plugshare.com/photos/577665.PNG The photo shows ...

Re: PIP inverter repairs and hardware modifications
I have been waiting for about a year for a new SCC board (my old one has a heat sink) which blew up from mppsolar in Taiwan. Sounds like the SCC boards are having a high failure rate.

Re: PIP-5048MK inverter
I am struggling with MppSolar 'support' - have been for several months, trying to get a firmware upgrade for my 'obsolete pre-2019' MK. Welcome to the club, I am still waiting for MppSolar to supply me with a new solar charger controller which had previously blown up. Asked for a replacement SCC (U...

Re: CCS 1 BMW i3's
So just making sure I'm getting this right. If BMW were to swap out my existing DC fast charging port (CCS type 1) to their new CCS type 2, I wouldn't be able to use some of the tesla destination chargers? I do not work for BMW but that does seem to be the case. Please let us know if and how much B...

Re: PIP-4048MS and PIP-5048MS inverters
Today the SCC stopped working on my PIP4048MS. The remainder of the PIP still works. A couple of PCB mounted relays were fubar which dropped off the PCB. According to my data logging the PV value was at 3kw when it happened. Any idea WTF happened? Anyhow I removed the remains of the SCC and cleaned ...

Re: CCS 1 BMW i3's
I have an adapter. So swapping the charge port to type 2 would be a waste of money for me. Unless I can upgrade from 7.4kW to 22kW.

Re: CCS 1 BMW i3's
Thanks. Not really worth it for me if you cannot use the two extra phases which means my BMW i3 does not have the two extra onboard chargers required to be able to charge from a Tesla destination charger at 22kW. That would be sweet...

Re: CCS 1 BMW i3's
Do you know whether the KLE will support the two extra phases? Do you think it might require Esys coding to go from J1772 to Mennekes? Good luck. Let us know how you go as I am also interested in doing this. The only down side is that the Mennekes on the new BMW i3 2018 will not work with the Tesla ...

I have recently installed the Zappi at my place which has a 3 phase supply using a 3 phase Elster A1100 nett utility meter. The zappi was installed using a Harvi and three CTs. Under advanced settings, Supply Grid, Export margin is set to the maximum value of 900 watts. But yet despite this setting ...

I successfully installed the Quidzel HOD module today and programmed it. Works well. You can read about here. http://www.mybmwi3.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 361#p47361. Possibly the first BMW i3 in Australia with a functioning Traffic Jam Assist.

I have no idea where you are located. But you can check your cable with an untethered non-Tesla charger (Chargefox - EVlink) at Mc Donalds at Kellyville to check the non-legacy setting theory... https://www.plugshare.com/location/110533 This charger requires you to use your own cable and it has a Me...

Re: Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772
Hi Jin, You can do a wiring check by measuring resistance using a ohmmeter. Looking at your J1772 plug measure the resistance: 1. Between the Proximity Detection pin (LHS) and Equipment Ground pin (without pushing button in) - 150 ohms 2. Between the Proximity Detection pin (LHS) and Equipment Groun...

Hi Jin, There is someone on www.plugshare.com who is using a type 2 to type 1 adapter cable on a Tesla charger to charge a 2013 Nissan Leaf at Supercheap Auto at Penrith and it works. You can send him a message using the mobile phone plugshare app. Name is Markr. https://www.plugshare.com/location/1...

I just charged up at Rouse Hill Town Centre car park https://www.plugshare.com/location/17075 on a Tesla charger. Worked ok. I have installed a meter to the type 2 to type 1 plug adaptor cable to read the current and power drawn. As shown it was drawing 31.26 amps, 7.3kW at 236.4 volts. https://s3.a...

Re: Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772
The installing electricians of the Tesla chargers would not have a clue about any dip switch setting for legacy mode I suspect that they all not set for legacy mode. But it seems that BMW i3 is compatible with non-legacy mode.

Re: Tesla HPWC adaptor >J1772
If that does not work you may want to look at getting a Teslanything.
Also try pushing the button on your j1772 plug for about 5 seconds when you plug it in to your leaf.
