Re: Club For The Elite?

I've been away for a long time but when I was last on this was a really great place to come for help and advice on a lot of things not just EV's. Now I have a little bit more time in my life I'm back and I see some of the same old people are still here so hoping nothing much has really changes. Ev2G...

Re: ZIVAN NG3 120v 18A Pb acid and Pb Gel charger

Been out of the scene for a while so happy to take offers if you think it's too expensive. Or if it's just because it's a Pb unit let me know and I'll look for some other way to offload it :)

ZIVAN NG3 120v 18A Pb acid and Pb Gel charger

Hi All, Got a few parts from an old EV project that I never quite got finished from back in 2009 for sale. Starting with a Zivan NG3 18A 120V Pb charger. Purchased some time in 2008 but only ever used about 5 or 6 times. Looking for about $600 otherwise I'll put it up on ebay. Also have a few contac...

Girder does seem to be the choice for strength. Not as comfortable a ride according to the NCOP15 Trike Guidelines but is probably the simplest choice, probably be the one I go with as well. Just got to decide if I make it myself or get one in kit form. You will have to let me know how yours turns o...

Actually I think I might have some fun and try to implement a power assisted steering system by independently adjusting the speed of each motor. Might come up with the first all wheel steering trike :)

ok I thought you were talking about something like this If you are going to use regular car wheels like me I think you would be better off putting two electric motors back to back in the centre and run drive shafts to the wheels. That is what I was effectively trying to achive with the hub motors. ...

Main reason for the 2 motors is to make independent suspension simpler and to give a bit more space without having to worry about a diff and onboard motor. Going to be some drawbacks such as high unsprung weight on the wheels, possible a bit less efficient, lower top speed (don’t fancy doing more th...

Thanks Paul, Not too worried about budget (within reason). I'm going to try and build as much myself as possible, may get pre maid forks though. The idea is to build something that I can do up a good set of plans and then duplicate again without having to worry about obtaining different second hand ...

Thanks, Very interesting (and long) read.
The hub motors will probably be way underpowered and a lot slower in comparison but might make suspension and space a bit easier to deal with.

Ok am I nuts? I’ve decided on my next project. Probably a bit premature as I haven’t finished this one yet :) I have always though the best way to do an electric vehicle is to start from scratch but the regs on building a car would make it next to impossible. However after going through the NCOP15 T...

Faulty ZAPI

I may have been blaming the ZAPI prematurely. Yes there has been some substantial arcing however as far as I can see all the major components seem to be ok, at least when doing an in circuit test anyway. What I have found is that one of my brand new AGM batteries seems to be faulty. I got the new co...

Well being the ever impulsive person that I am I have bitten the bullet and placed an order for the hsr12401. I'll probably end up regretting it like so many other things but hey we only live once http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif So anyone want to buy a slightly used and abused ZAPI htt...

Ok My motor specs are 72-120 volt, 130 amps continuous, 150 amps for one hour, 500 amps peak I think it is a brushed motor So I’d guess that one of these would be the ones to go with 400A for 1 Min, 180A continuous http://kellycontroller.com/hsr12401400a120vseries-with-regen-p-891.html or 600A for I...

Faulty ZAPI If I can't get the ZAPI fixed I might look at one of the Kelly controllers. Anyone had experience with them? Particular the regen's with the ADC L91-4003 ? They seem to have a LOT of different models, got to try and figure out which one is the correct one to get. http://kellycontroller.c...

Hi All,
Anyone know where I can either get a ZAPI H2 repaired or know of one for sale? I’ve finally gotten around to trying to finish off my conversion and it looks like my ZAPI is blown. Opened it up and there is has been some major arcing on the main driver board.

One thing that gets overlooked a lot. I think ir was Rod who said he has his charger on a timer. Charging an EV during off peak times not only cuts down the powe cost but has only a marginal effect on the base load. At least until we get a hell of a lot more cars on the road.

From my personally biased EV point of view, I would hope for Australia that we can find someone with more vision for our leading electronics magazine. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley7.gif       That brings up a side point. A monthly EV mag would be cool. Containing a step by step conversio...
