Re: CCS2 to Chademo adapter: holy grail or vapourware?
As a Minicab-MiEV owner, very excited by this actually being proven to work and be purchasable, saw a video a few months ago which looked very discouraging. Presumably one of Dala's videos - his more recent video relates to an updated model and is much more positive. A couple of people on the Nissa...

Re: Another attempt at inductive charging
I agree about the inductive roadway from the article - a waste of time, money and resources. However inductive charging in parking spaces as suggested is a different matter. There are so many "niche" uses - taxi ranks, accessibility, queues, fleet vehicles, roadside parking - that it is de...

Re: WA EV Network
I believe NRMA is going to overlap this route as well, but with some slight variations in areas. E.g. Cataby and Eneabba are on NRMA’s list. NRMA will be doing Willare while WA EV Network will be doing Derby. Exact locations to be confirmed.

Overpaying at Public Charging Stations: What are your thoughts on the huge overpaying rate on public charging stations when using apps? Do you find it significant or do you think that charging prices are ok now? What does this mean? I'm not sure what the concern is, but I have never been charged ex...

I'm still trying to work out why people are irrationally obsessed with this. We don't want it, we don't need it.Exadios wrote: ↑Thu, 12 Oct 2023, 09:59 A short discussion of what it may take for Australia to switch to NACS.

Re: NRMA EV charging charging to start
I installed the app, found the same as sleeperpservice 's comment above, but yesterday there was an app update that lets you sign up specifically for EV charging. After you sign up they give you a member number, etc. so it appears as a "free" level of membership (I guess they want to boost...

Re: WA EV Network
This argument I never understood, especially from EV drivers who are less than 4% of the cars on Australian roads, ICE drivers could make the same argument, could they not? The counter point to this is that the percentage of EVs among all cars is increasing, trending to 100%, whereas the percentage...

I'm confused, for years people complained that the petrol stations weren't installing fast chargers, now they are installing fast chargers and people are still complaining. What exactly do we want them to do?rusty-away wrote: ↑Thu, 24 Aug 2023, 08:02 I don't know about anyone else, but I am so over oil companies and their rorting

Re: Will NACS come to Australia?
I'm of the opinion that CCS2 will not be a thing in Australia within the next 20 years. I'm confused as to what information you used to form this opinion? It seems pretty obvious CCS2 is the dominant standard, not just for Australia but for 80% of the world. NACS is a North American solution to a N...

Ok, this is interesting... I starting using LastPass just a few months ago. I find every time I visit the site I am logged out and need to log in again. When I log in, LastPass has no problem populating the username and password fields, I just need to tick "stay logged in" and click login...

Sigh. Believe it or not, you can visit a caravan park without the need to tow something there. True story. And when you can sleep in climate controlled comfort in the back of your car, cook with your electric BBQ using V2L, then leave will a full "tank" the next day ... who needs to tow a...

Call to make caravan parks EV hotspots
https://www.aap.com.au/news/call-to-make-caravan-parks-ev-hotspots This will bring back memories of some of the older AEVA members who would make multi-day trips using only caravan parks (because that's all there was!) A lot of the early entries on Plugshare were caravan parks. 3.6 kW charging was s...

Re: WA Charging network out to tender!
Agree with jonescg - there are ways around it (as per WA), in some cases, I'd argue that having AC charging at some of the remote sites is probably worse than installing nothing - they'll be saying "we have installed an EV charging network all the way to the WA & NT borders!" and prete...

Re: ARENA - Future Fuels Fund
The other thing to consider with DC/AC is that an AC site costs about $2k to install, maybe $5k if there is a lot of trenching required. DC sites cost minimum $30k just to buy one charging unit, an entire site with all installation/civil/electrical works can typically be around $100k, and if you wan...

The supercharge.info blue dots basically mean any site that has evidence of Tesla planning a specific address.
