Re: Roof rack on Ioniq 6. Possible?

It is rated at 80kg for a roof rack... Ah! That is helpful. Where did you see that rating? BTW. I am asking for a friend I am helping to buy her first EV. Being able to carry one kayak is a 'must have'. I have seen 'soft racks', which seem like an option of last resort that could be adequate. These...

Roof rack on Ioniq 6. Possible?

Has anyone found a roof rack to fit on an Ioniq 6, specifically the Techniq variant?

Re: Anyone with Ioniq 5?

Hi all, Just collected my Ioniq 5 Epiq last week. Just wondering any idea when will Hyundai Australia extends its Bluelink service to Ioniq 5 drivers. It's a pity we don't have that down under here, comparing the Ioniq 5 in other countries enjoying that. I doubt they will. I had the predecessor in ...

Re: Happy Anniversary

We sold our 2019 Kona at about 55,000km and 3 years. Essentially no issues aside from the things that were dealt with at no cost by recalls. The car was good and we only changed to a HI5 because we wanted an official tow rating.

Re: Towing with an Ioniq 5

I have done two longer trips with our 2010 Jayco Flite camper trailer since getting our HI5 MY23 Techniq (AWD). One was 1900km and the other 800km overall. We averaged 26.5kWh/100km for the first and 26.6kWh/100km for the second trip. We mostly stuck to 90-95 kph on roads with 100kph or 110kph limit...

Re: Anyone with Ioniq 5?

My AWD 'Techniq' arrived yesterday. So far, so good. I can't find the 'trailer mode' feature that is listed in the spec sheet but I suspect that all it does is tweak the range guessometer. I can do that myself well enough after a trial run so not a big deal.

I have an AWD Techniq coming from the latest round of the chooq raffle on 19th Jan. Re: Hyundai/KIA 12V battery issues

I think some EVs use the 12V system for some heavy duty stuff... Even so, it still should not be hard for the 12V battery. Those loads should be handled by the DC-DC converter with the battery only doing a little buffering. I gather the DC-DC converter in the Kona is good for 1.5kW and the converte...

Re: Hyundai/KIA 12V battery issues

This was an issue in the Kona for which there were updates to do more 12V topping up. It is astonishing that it is still a problem in the Ioniq 5. It should be sorted by now. The 12V lead-acid battery should last a very long time. It never has to do any cranking. It should be sitting on a perfect fl...

Prompted by the various reports of transmission oil problems, I asked my local Hyundai service people to check the transmission oil of my 2019 Kona at its scheduled 45K (actually 50,000km) service. They said the level was right and the appearance of the oil was 'good'.

I downloaded the updater for MacOS. It would not run because Hyundai didn't bother to register it with Apple. You can get it to run by opening it via a control-click.
