Re: EV autocross

The motorkhana i've competed in in australia reverse is not allowed, if you engage reverse, you get the slowest time plus a penalty. All you need is a suitably scrutineered car, long sleeve cotton clothing and helmet. It would be ideal for EVs. And i reckon you'd have a fair chance of doing all rig...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

I have lined up a new controller. I am going for the 1000amp variant. I believe I will be able to easily double the power compared to how it was performing before. It will be about a month before I will have it all installed

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Yes, other than the extra expense I am not too upset. Luckily the failure on this event was on the last run. At the event we did two attempts at each test and the best time from each pair counted. So I really didn't lose much. The past two events have been motorkhanas. The car is unlikely to ever be...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Didn't go to plan. The car and driver were performing reasonably well. Although the car performance was OK it certainly wasn't up to the level I would expect from the combination. But it was still an improvement on previous attempts. I was fairly competitive, at the time I expected to be top 3. It t...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

It's difficult to quantify how much more potential it could / should have. But think of it this way. This setup is normally used for great results in road cars up to around 1200KG. I would expect that to mean 0-100 in say 8 seconds and a top speed around 110kmph assuming no gearbox is used. In mine ...

Ultracapacitors for drag racing?

Mack, I am also quite interested for my application. I am thinking I need around 875wh for the longest of my runs. So I think 5 or 6 of your packs would do the trick. But am I understanding that your 178wh pack is 56kg? If thats the case it won't work for me. My total battery weight at the moment is...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

So I had my second event in the Electric car on Sunday. I hadn't fixed the batteries yet, so I wasn't expecting much. I was really treating it as another opportunity to test the car and identify anything else that needs to be modified. The event was a Khanacross (similar to an Autocross). The car pe...

EV Imports

I think there could be a very good market here for 2nd hand Nissan Leafs from Japan. There's plenty of other Japanese imports driving around in Sydney (Silvias, Delicas etc)- what's stopping them being electric? I agree in concept but the reason those ICE imports are economically viable is because ...

AEVA Brisbane - January Meeting

I am planning on attending and hoping to bring my EV. But it will depend on the weather. Any sign of rain and I'll be coming without the car. Only because I haven't finished the panelling yet.

EV owners to compete in QLD Motorkhana

Hi,

Just an update. The date for the first motorkhana is Feb 7th.

I will certainly be attending in my electric motorkhana special.

Anyone else considering being there?

If you are a bit nervous about it feel free to PM me with any concern you might have and I will try to make your mind at ease.

We were talking about ride share at work the other day. One of my collegues swears he will never use the service for fear of being raped. I told him he should not subscribe to Luber.com

"Made the driver too high"? I don't think you should be sniffing the seat :-)

I am kinda interested but where is it, Perth? I wouldn't thing it would be cost effective to get it to Brisbane?

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

I wasn't exactly trying for speedy changes in this test. In an event I would just slam it in. It might also be a little quicker when the gear lever is bolted down (I am waiting until I can bolt it through the transmission tunel panels) But you are correct it would give an advantage. But I fear it wo...

I am still on track for the first 2016 motorkhana for Feb 7th. All I need to do is: •     Swapping the rear hubs and upgrading the rear springs to handle the weight •     Brakes all round •     Panels and dash •     Belts •     Another set of batteries •     And a handful of other minor items I esti...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

Last night was a pivotal point in my project. I had a couple of tests on the weekend which failed. I quickly identified the issue and targeted last night for remediation and a repeat test. Failure would have put my timeline in jeopardy as I would only have a few weeks to secure and implement any rep...

Electric Motorkhana and khanacross car

I am using the pedal from a late model Mitsubishi Lancer. I just found that the black bit on the left side was fouling the brake pedal. So I pulled it off. But I can't work out the purpose for this item. It has no wires and doesn't seem to make a difference to the pressure on the pedal. My best gues...
