Re: iMiEV tyre wear status

I let off the gas going into the turn, no brake. The car nearly instantly swapped ends. I have spun out lots of cars and love drifing, so I know quite well what it feels like. I have never ever seen a car swap ends as fast as the MIEV did. It was completely uncontrollable; the stability control did...

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

costing $13,000 for a replacement battery pack Is that the price you've seen on insurance receipts, or an educated guess? I'm interested as this is the first price I've seen for a PHEV battery. I've seen a couple of iMiEV pack prices which have varied from $5k (subsidised we suspect) to about $14k ...

Re: PHEV Flood Fail

The plug was missing because of accidental damage to the underside of the vehicle. This occurred about 3 years ago when I accidentally drove over a low brick wall separating two carparks at different levels. I didn't know the wall was there until I'd clunked over it :-( Hitting anything on the unde...

Re: PHEV Loss of Km Range with Battery.

One example is a PHEV that is less than 4 years old and struggles to travel 30km on a battery charge but when new could do 45km for the same trips. However battery life has been checked and found to have 89% life remaining. Our PHEV has done 44,000km (and over 50% are EV km) and these days we get a...

I just read somewhere that VW chargers were found to contain Cadmium in a relay, so VW recently changed supplier. I wonder if Mitsubishi had the same issue?

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

That sounds crazy! My 2010 starts and drives just fine with only a copy of the original key. I have only one key fob remote but my wife is able to use my car any time with her plain metal key. Ok, maybe there is something else going on in my iMiEV. Do you have the blue light down near the gearshift...

I'd be tempted if it was in NSW. I have acreage near Gosford, so happy to store a wrecked EV if anyone ever wants to have spare parts for their EV.

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

You should be able to start the car even with a completely flat key battery, reverse the key and put it back into the fob and it should work as a transponder. Fortunately after playing around for about 5 mins with no success, I decided to slam the key on my knee, as sometimes moving battery termina...

Re: Wanting to get my iMiEV serviced. Advice?

[*]The button on the driver door to un/lock the car doesn't always respond I found this when the key battery was close to flat. Do you get the key icon on the dash flashing for a minute or so after the iMiEV is started, which indicates the key battery is getting low? I recently ordered 5 of the cr2...

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

as for the codes themselves, only a Mitsubishi MUT 3 reader can extract the codes. and you can lease one for ......... $15,000 PA. If you look in the myimiev forum there are a few owners with Mut 3 devices. I believe they are available for well south of $1k however be sure to get one that someone h...

Re: iMiev Recall notice

I heard from an iMiEV owner in USA who did the same thing and damaged the charge lead due to his home charging location being on a slope. I wonder if you could put a "speedbump" on the driveway to stop the car rolling by mistake, or is it too steep?

Re: i-MiEV not charging, high voltage warning light and battery

Paceway say the onboard charger is faulty and needs to be replaced (about $4000). The charger was replaced about a year ago in a recall, so Wow that sux, all the best with that. Hope you can persuade them to replace under warranty, remember there are consumer warranty conditions around "expected li...

Re: Inside an iMiEV's LEV50 cell

I'm keen to start building battery modules to replace the cells of an iMiEV Sounds great, I'll be a customer when my traction dies! There is a company in Europe that has upgraded the Outlander PHEV battery to 19.5kWh, maybe you can get some ideas from him as it uses very similar cells. https://yout...

Is this a failed cell, and are you pulling it apart just to discover what's inside, or do you intend to modify/fix it?

Could it be that your 12v battery is faulty so it is constantly being charged by the traction battery?

Re: 2012 Imiev 70K kms, battery u/s.

Has anybody ever taken a Manufacturer to Fair Trading? I will talk to them tomorrow about how to go about it. The goods supplied are not 'fit for purpose' when the range is now much less than 75% of the range when new. I have asked for the full testing results so I can get an independent expert to ...

Re: Dealer can tell you kWhs in iMiEV

I had the feeling the range remaining guess-o-meter has been telling me lower numbers lately in spite of warmer weather. Do you check your tyre pressure regularly? iMiEV tyres are notorious for slowly deflating. Here is my iMiEV data obtained via OBD from my EvBatMon Android & iPhone App - Date Odo...

Re: Outlander PHEV suddenly disabled

What it could mean is that the safety/ longevity margins are reduced but the energy available to the user is increased. I feel the only way the real range could be extended by around 20% (as is reported by rhills) would be as you say nuggetgalore - allowing deeper discharge and/or higher recharge. ...

I-MiEV Main battery cell failure

Has anyone successfully claimed a battery warranty in Australia? I know of 2, #1 in WA which is documented on this forum, where the owner paid something like $6k from memory and got to keep the old battery. #2 was John in the Blue Mountains (Sydney) who had his replaced in 2015 at no cost, after a ...

I-MiEV Main battery cell failure

Is it true that the battery pack only balances when it is charged to full. Balancing is triggered in the iMiEV ONLY when you run the iMiEV to <2 bars (ie flashing), and balancing only happens once the charge is completed, and needs to be via a Level 1 or 2 charge, ie not CHADEMO fastcharge. If you ...

Has anyone used the tyre goo aerosol can that comes with the iMiEV? I have a slow leak on my ride-on mower and wonder if I can use tiny bit of the can and still have the rest for the iMiEV, or can you only use the can only once? I think the can in the PHEV is the same as the iMiEV so it should be am...

Monday it dropped 5 bars in 17km with zero net climb That does not sound good. Are you definitely giving it enough time to do the balancing to completion after the drop to <2 bars? If you are running on a timer or offpeak period it may not be long enough. The battery warranty in Australia is pretty...
