Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

The battery is only used in off peak where the power at $0.14/kWh. Why would you do that? Makes more sense to use it between sunset and 9pm (on weekdays) and save $0.50/kWh And why take into account the supply charge? Not paying a power bill at all would be nice, but the supply charge bears no rele...

Re: Driving an EV in slow moving traffic?

I hear that in a Tesla you can turn the creep off. Yes in a Tesla "creep" is optional. I've always driven manual cars & find creep annoying in automatics, so I've never turned it on. And the mapping on the accelerator pedal is awesome. It's easy to crawl along at very slow speeds, which is useful b...

Re: 61 EV's charging simultaneously

There were (at least) 5 Teslas charging @ 32A 3phase, 6 @ 24A 3phase and 23 @ 16A 3phase

And the voltage was a steady 250V so just those cars alone drew 504kW

Renault Australia has confirmed it will import both the pure-electric ZOE supermini and Kangoo ZE van to Australian businesses and governmental organisations. The updated long-range ZOE, which was introduced back in late 2016 in Europe, will be available here in two grades priced either side of $45,...

The same as servicing the existing Tesla.
For small jobs they come to you (Ranger service) and for big jobs you go to them (even in Perth, where they have temporary space @ McCarthy Prestige until they have their own space)

Synergy charging stations - WA

I wonder who headed up the new City of Swan fast DC charger . Judging from the no discussion here, not from AEVA then? It's good news either way, and being in Midland, that's a perfect spot for my degrading Leaf trying to go to Swan Valley! It's for City of Swan staff use only right now, but they w...

Does that mean you've found someone who can do the pairing? Cheers, My Dad found someone (after many years of hassling both Western Power and Synergy) and had the Eagle working for a while, but it recently stopped working again. Can these be used with the "Smart Meters" we have in WA? Not all Smart...

I inquired to synergy/western power but it seem there is no infrastructure that allowed them to do monitor or even read the meter remotely. A small number of homes had even smarter "smart meters" installed via the Solar City Program - Western Power is able to read these remotely, and they also prov...

The 85kWh packs have 16 modules (7104 cells)

For AUD$20k that seems like a bargain.. Even more so if the running gear is included

DIY Conversions nearly dead ?

I would say its the death of the niche EV component manufactures and suppliers. The small guys making motors and controllers and battery's. I expect some of them will diversify into making kits for combining commonly found salvage drivetrains into popular cars. Just like you can buy kits to fit V8s ...

Who makes Tesla's Charging Stations?

Sorry, I didn't know Tesla produced two different types of chargers? Or is one type produced by Tesla and the other produced by someone else? There's a lot of confusion around the term "charger" From a technical point of view it should be reserved for the equipment that actually converts the AC pow...

It doesn't have CHAdeMO though, that's the Chinese "improved" version which can do up to 100kW

Great review!

A minor correction - your article says: “ludicrous” mode (going from 0 – 60kph in 2.8 seconds)
The P90D Ludicrous actually does 0-60mph (96.5kph) in 2.8 seconds which is faster than any other production 4 door vehicle.
