Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

Hi Chris, A rather diplomatically written article... That's one way of putting it I guess. If you only read the first paragraph or two and you're easily influenced by these things, you'd rush out and buy one. However, if you read through to the end, and you'd followed this thread, you'd see a patter...

Re: A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi Peter, My conclusion, like the one earlier in the thread, is that it is the Volt itself, not the Volt EVSE that is causing RCDs to trip itermittently. My experience is obviously quite different from yours as we don't own a Volt. Maybe our EVSE (which I purchased from g4qber with full disclosure a...

Re: A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi Peter, Probably not much help to you, but I use a Volt EVSE to charge my Mitsubishi Outlander when I am out. My experience has been that it will only trip out if used on 10A sockets. I use it reasonably regularly on a 15A socket and from memory it has never tripped out on one of those. Mine will ...

Sounds like something our consumer advocates might be interested in.

Are any of you who have hard facts to hand a member of Choice? If so, maybe report it on their Choice Help page.

Alternatively, the ABC's Consumer program The Checkout could well be interested...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

Looks good to me. One tweak you might consider is to move the Delay(500) to either the end or the beginning of the loop. The value of sensorValue isn't going to change after it is read at the first line of the loop() routine no matter how long you delay so to me it's more logical to read the value, ...

Well, I for one will do my darndest to support them any way I can. As our WA country travels these days are in our motorhome, I'll make sure I fill it up with diesel there whenever I'm within cooee of them and explain to them why I have chosen to do so.

Great that they can be looked at here in Perth, but I'll still wait until I can actually drive one. Anyone know how much the Kangoo is? These vehicles are still hard to find on the Renault web site, still only found under "Future vehicles" which would give the average punter the message that they ca...

Lead Crystal batteries for non-EV application?

Hi Guys, In another forum I haunt, someone has asked about replacing existing AGM "house" batteries in a Recreational Vehicle with some "Lead Crystal" batteries. From my brief reading, Lead Crystal batteries are the absolute beez neez and will cure everything from the common cold to AIDS. So, I am s...

I've been watching this debate with interest; much of the detail, from much cleverer brains than mine, is over my head. However, this one caught my eye... 1- the capacitors we are using have the energy delivery in terms of kWh not in AH while LTO is in Ah Admittedly I did secondary school Physics ba...

Hi Coulomb, Then there are the hybrids; I believe you drive on yourself, Rob. When you start the ICE, is that with the 12 V battery or the hybrid battery? I'm guessing the latter, but it possibly depends on how they design it. Especially with something like the Outlander which comes in ICE only and ...

I'm no expert, but my experience with Pb batteries is that when they reach the end of their tether they can have random "collapse" episodes and then behave perfectly normally in between. As Murphy is usually involved, collapses usually happen at the least convenient moment

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the facts :)

If you get a chance, you or Richard may want to listen to the podcast of this morning's ABC Perth show (starting from 8:30am) and perhaps ring in today or tomorrow to correct any misinformation. If you've not done so already of course!

Cheers,

Re: Labelling of Battery Compartment ???

With regulations, you have to read every word carefully IMHO: Each battery compartment should be labelled with the appropriate hazard symbols for the battery chemistry in use . (my emphasis). To me that doesn't mean you have to specify what the battery chemistry is, just warn about the hazards "appr...

Thanks @4Springs. The light comes on all the time and doesn't change with any flexing of the input cable. However, the RCD test button doesn't do anything so I'm guessing the input is OK, but there's either a problem within the RCD relay or between it and the input cable within the box itself.
