Re: Brendon_m Moke

I don't know where we're at with electric wheel motors ATM, but I'd have thought this would be a perfect project for a couple of wheel motors, then lose all of the ICE, gearbox and Leyland's infamous universal joints :-) Of course if you had unlimited funds, 4 wheel motors would make for a ferocious...

@Scotty T, when you say "pm" is that the Private Messaging within the forum or did you email him? If you click on a username, you go to their profile page which enables you to email them as well. Some people elect not to be notified by email if they're sent a PM within the forum.

Re: AVASS Battery order details

Hi David, As a thank you to Chris for all his efforts perhaps those receiving the batteries would like to make a "thank you" payment to Chris for his efforts. An excellent suggestion IMHO. As an absolute minimum, Chris should definitely not be out of pocket for extra freight costs for the WA cells, ...

Any chance of posting the links HuffnPuff ? My wife came across a couple of mentions of 400mm in discussions in other forums, but I was driving at the time and wasn't able to confirm if they were authoritative or speculative comments. FWIW, a work colleague who has a Volvo SUV (non-electric of cours...

Re: PHEV Flood Fail

We've been away from home since yesterday, with the PHEV left in the garage to dry out. Tried firing it up this evening and got the same alarms firing so I agree with you Johny we'll need to get Mitsu to look at it. Dreading it though as the last time we had EV troubles we were without the vehicle f...

PHEV Flood Fail

Almost a year since our PHEV failed suddenly for no obvious reason , we had the same thing happen today, albeit with possible provocation this time. We had 75mm rain (in our own rain gauge) overnight and so there were some very large puddles on the roads around our place. We headed off for our denta...

Hi Christopher, This looks like a great project. I'd like to help, but the soldering puts me off, I've never been much good at it. I followed your link to the BMS you made for your car and read in the Wiki that another option could be to get the whole board manufactured. Would this add much to the c...

Hi Chris, A rather diplomatically written article... That's one way of putting it I guess. If you only read the first paragraph or two and you're easily influenced by these things, you'd rush out and buy one. However, if you read through to the end, and you'd followed this thread, you'd see a patter...

Re: A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi Peter, My conclusion, like the one earlier in the thread, is that it is the Volt itself, not the Volt EVSE that is causing RCDs to trip itermittently. My experience is obviously quite different from yours as we don't own a Volt. Maybe our EVSE (which I purchased from g4qber with full disclosure a...

Re: A closer look at the volt RCD tripping issue

Hi Peter, Probably not much help to you, but I use a Volt EVSE to charge my Mitsubishi Outlander when I am out. My experience has been that it will only trip out if used on 10A sockets. I use it reasonably regularly on a 15A socket and from memory it has never tripped out on one of those. Mine will ...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

Looks good to me. One tweak you might consider is to move the Delay(500) to either the end or the beginning of the loop. The value of sensorValue isn't going to change after it is read at the first line of the loop() routine no matter how long you delay so to me it's more logical to read the value, ...

Great that they can be looked at here in Perth, but I'll still wait until I can actually drive one. Anyone know how much the Kangoo is? I've been watching this debate with interest; much of the detail, from much cleverer brains than mine, is over my head. Hi Coulomb, Then there are the hybrids; I believe you drive on yourself, Rob. When you start the ICE, is that with the 12 V battery or the hybrid battery? I'm no expert, but my experience with Pb batteries is that when they reach the end of their tether they can have random "collapse" episodes and then behave perfectly normally in between. As Murphy is usually involved, collapses usually happen at the least convenient moment
