Re: Around Australia Electric Highway

Thank you AEVA and those who are involved in getting more charging spots. In WA, I got to enjoy the fruit of AEVA hard labour (and lots of those behind the scene, and front, such as RAC) so I could easily travel outside the city using my 'classic' Leaf, charged by the DC fast chargers, merely spaced...

Re: Tesla PW2

For those who have PW2, and found the new TBC (Time Base Control) is confusing, I did a wee bit different experiments and concluded that TBC Cost Saving with peak time extension to cover the shoulder is not a bad idea (in order to reduce solar exports, for those with poor FiT). I also found a quirk ...

Hi @Supercaps , although you already mentioned you don't sell the individual cells, perhaps, you still have some individual supercap cells floating around in your workshop?

I'd be very interested to buy a dozen of them. Please?

Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

From what I observed in the eastern state grid, isn't the opposite happening? i.e. retailers are working with battery manufacturer to offer even cheaper electricity (i.e. Sonnen flat)? As their grid market allow to make battery pay-back much quicker (i.e. ability to sell and buy during off/on peak w...

Golly gosh, I thought this scam is thoroughly gone by now (since it's obvious). I guess I don't want to miss the excitement ( FOMO ) too! Hi Supercaps , I genuinely applaud your coolness in answering these critics. However, do see it as a genuine care from us to you, not being scammed by kilowatt la...

Whoops

You can see that in 1000 qty they are USD 2.0 for a 3.12 Wh device. That's about AUD 0.85 per Wh.

If they were a bargain, why would they need to lie about what they are?

Hang on! Let say it is indeed LTO. At AUD 1.3 per kWh, isn't that a good bargain? That's even give me more confidence to buy the smaller pack (if it is indeed an LTO)!

Re: Lithium Starter Batteries

But the prismatics havs sloshy fluid and the pouch/cylindrical are solid. I would expect the pouch/cylindrical to always fair better in the automotive environment. I thought pouch is the solid one (i.e. polymer elctrolyte), where as prismatic and cylinder are 'sloshy' one (i.e. solvent electrolyte)...

Re: Lithium Starter Batteries

Hi antiscab , check your private messages. Hi Richo , looks like the chemistry is it (instead of the physical whether they are rolled or pouched). I ran a full charge regime just for curiosity and the voltage ramped very quickly when it hits 3.5-ish Volt (per cell). Once all cells reached 3.6 Volts,...

Re: Lithium Starter Batteries

I replaced the starter battery of my Corolla (then sold to a friend of mine about the same time) 3-ish years ago with 40Ah battery pack from EV power. At the time, it was awesome, obviously being an LFP with such a high cranking amp. In the last couple of weeks, however, a friend of mine told me the...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

We can put a heat exchanger on the battery coolant line so that refrigerant can be used directly to cool the battery pack. I'm inclined to think that a fan-forced radiator to ambient will suffice, but we do get some unpleasantly hot days through summer in Perth. Shouldn't be too hard to plumb in if...

Nice one! Any fancy charging capability? I presume planned for basic J1772, or straight to Mennekes 22kW? :) What's the plan for air-con? I wonder any products out there these days for EV converts to do variable power air-con (instead of full ON-OFF)? That's what I've found very good with OEM EV (es...

Wow, at that price, which includes the charger, definitely compete with basic EV charger! Way worth it. Unless, some people (like myself) love batteries too much and collect more debt by getting PW2.

Hmmm... so the Arvio 3.5kWh module was 'invented' so that it can go by air for urgent customers? What a clever idea! I definitely didn't see that coming...

PS: From the ARENA funded battery test centre, logistic was one of main issue. See report here.

Hi Supercaps, can you please list your supercap 'cells' (i.e. the capacitor itself) in your store? I wanted to buy the supercap itself, but alas, not listed in your store. You have the module for AUD4,260 currently, but I believe you'll sell more of them if you list the 'cells' itself. At AUD1.20/Wh...

What I'm curious is why the burnt one is always 'Active' wire? Or has anyone has burnt the neutral wire instead? I'm at loss at the actual physics here. What about SonnenFlat deal? Are you eligible (i.e. not with Ergon in QLD)?

I looked this up after installing my PW2 in WA. If I were eligible, I would definitely go with SonnenFlat, purely because it's more financially makes sense. In WA, the ROI is not yet there to buy PW2.

I second that. The equation has changed over time. Lithium-ion battery advances have made supercaps irrelevant. Indeedy, a while back I've calculated it. Even then supercap was irrelevant. Roughly speaking, for the same super-cap 1kWh energy addition , you can add 24kWh of lithium battery at the sa...

I'm a bit lost. So 18kWh added to cover exactly the 104km distance? Was that pre-calculated so that the Tesla use 18kWh per 100km?
