Whwew to buy a quick charger?

Hi Aikirob - congrats on the Zero purchase! You can buy the 1kW Delta-Q chargers through Zero dealers in Australia and they are programmed to work with the Zero 116V battery packs. Unfortunately, you will find them expensive to buy them through Australian Zero retailers - I've been quoted ~AUD1600 f...

Feng - did you get the charger working? Any photos of the charger/site?

Was thinking of trying it today.

Thanks

As mentioned at last week's AEVA meeting a couple of friends are doing an EV drive/ride from McDonald's Dural to Wisemans Ferry on Sunday 16th October. We'll grab a coffee at McDonalds Dural at 10am and will leave between 10:30-11:00. Lunch at Wisemans Ferry Inn and then head back to McDonalds Dural...

Greg, what sort of turn out are you expecting at Dural tomorrow? Is it just you and me? Also could you bring your Tesla to J1772 adapter please, I'd really like to look at it, and pick your brain If I get a chance. Mark Mark - I'll bring my Mennekes to J1772 adaptor as well so you can have a look a...

New PHEV experience: "Maintain Fuel System"

I've been towing a lightweight trailer and Zero SR motorcycle for track days and racing for the last 18 months including a few trips from Sydney to Goulburn and it handles the weight easily (although the load is under 500kg). Fuel economy from Sydney to Goulburn including charging at each end is 8l/...

J1772 splitter to 3 x C14 or 240V 10A socket

Closing out this thread ...

I bought a Zero to J1772 adaptor from http://www.tucsonev.com that has 3 x C14 plugs. I know that consumption of each of my chargers so will be able to plug in to J1772 public chargers and keep under their rated capacity - usually 6.6kW.

Try logging in at the web address I provided.

While I use the Nissan Connect Android app I have never logged into the Nissan Connect site you listed and my login credentials for the Leaf (used in the portal site and all Leaf apps) don't work at that site (I just tried).

Yes, you'll need to register with Nissan to get an account to access your Leaf. Then you can login with an email address and password via one of the Android apps. For Android, the Nissan Connect app works well as does Leaf Manager to connect to your Aussie Leaf. If you want more detailed battery inf...

I compared 26 vehicles

"How sure are you that you use 12kW for a 100km trip?" Because the PHEV will use electricity before it uses petrol. So somewhere between 30km and 50km into a trip the battery will run flat and the car will act like a regular hybrid and use fuel to power it (and like other hybrids it can recharge the...

I'm trying to point out that whatever PHEV fuel economy figure you use - 1.8l,2.3l, 3.0l per 100km - relies on you using the entire battery pack ie. 10-12kWh. You can't assume that the only 1/8 of the battery pack was used because the theoretical range might be 800km. So if you stick with 3.0l per 1...

Let's not get hung up on whether the electricity tariff is 25.5 or 25.6 cents per kWh. I just wanted to point out that off-peak tariffs will cut your electricity cost in half. Not everyone can take advantage of that eg. renters (as they can't add a dedicated off-peak circuit, although they could swi...

A few suggestions to make the calculations more accurate ... Some of the costs per 100km don't reflect real world usage or even official fuel/electricity usage. For example the Tesla and Outlander PHEV have the same energy cost per 100km . This might be true if you drive on electric only but you hav...

eFXC 2015 - Australian Electric Superbikes

As Chris and bikes like the Lightning LS-218 have shown, power is not a limiter for electrics. It's battery weight, range and heat. I think it will be the electrics racing against gas bikes that will force the introduction of power limits to electrics. We need very short races or low power competiti...

eFXC 2015 - Australian Electric Superbikes

Congrats to Pottz and Chris for another year winning the eFXC title. It takes a lot of skill to ride a 200+kg bike around the tracks we race on and to control 200+hp without any electronic aids that all the gas superbikes have. No one wants to drop a $40,000 bike either so you can't race them around...

I think each state branch really needs a drive day event, much like we do with Electrikhana. It makes a HUGE difference. Hiring a racetrack for the day is hell expensive, but you might be able to find a driver training circuit somewhere with the relevant insurances. Just read about Electrikhana - g...
