Re: Cost to install 32A dedicated circuit

Hi Lou, Happy to share Zappi settings but unless we can get the Zappi/Harvi to net across the three phases it won't work accurately. If the Zappi and solar are on the same phase for you and there is not much running on the other phases then it should be good enough. My solar is three phase. myenergi...

Re: Charging your non-Tesla EV from a Tesla charger

The answer is a qualified yes with a modified Type 2 to Type 1 adaptor but it's complicated. Assuming by your Avatar you have a BMW i3 then for most Tesla charging stations you can use a Type 2 to Type 1 adaptor but it must have the Type 2 end shortened otherwise the pins will not connect as a regul...

Re: Cost to install 32A dedicated circuit

I've been told the 3 phase Zappi will be available in October / November.

I'm tempted to send my Zappi back and have myenergi send a replacement three phase unit as I have had it since December 2017 and it has never worked as a solar aware EVSE.

Re: Cost to install 32A dedicated circuit

As promised: here is my experience and cost of installing an 32A dedicated circuit to power a Zappi EVSE. Hi LouB, A heads up that the Zappi doesn't work correctly on three phase power as it doesn't correctly work out the net energy used across all three phases. I've been waiting for a firmware upd...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

And that's the challenge it can't handle - a DC coupled arrangement as it doesn't have visibility of a DC charge controller charging the battery at the same time and you could exceed the 100A charge limit. The Victrons are smart in that way as the DC charge controller and Multigrid etc talk with eac...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

I had a look at some of the Goodwe SBP 5000 spec sheets. It does have a lot of configurations listed as unsupported (generator on AC side, connecting backup side to grid etc). I'm wondering if it can DC couple to solar panels. The closest I can see in the user manual is "one battery bank cannot be ...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

With the Batrium BMS you select compatibility with a battery inverter eg. you select the preferred protocol from a list including SMA Sunny Island 3.1, Victron Color Control GX, Solax etc. There is no Goodwe inverter option yet, we are trying to work out whether a new one is needed or whether we can...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

There has been some progress with Goodwe SBP talking via CAN to the Batrium Watchmon using the SMA Sunny Island protocol but the CAN messages stop after a couple of minutes. There are more details and progress updates on the AEVA Cell Mates facebook group.

Re: AVASS Battery order details

We're fortunate to have a 10kW PV system so filling a 22kWh battery is pretty easy, even in winter as long as the inverter is sized accordingly. The ex-accountant in me says buy the cheapest, the self-sufficient part of me says bigger and better inverter. The Selectronic and Victron are appealing bu...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

Yep, the Victron allows for a very flexible setup, including DC-coupled PV using a charge controller and a Multigrid to minimise grid imports - see 4:45 into this video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbpQzEZTElI . The Victron kit is a little underpowered and overpriced for AC-coupled grid-connec...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

It is possible to use the self-define setting on the Goodwe (rather than selecting an OEM lithium battery which uses CAN or RS485 comms and the OEM battery controls voltage/SOC limits). In that setting the upper voltage limits can be set but it doesn't do this for low voltages - for that the Goodwe ...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

May I suggest you ask for the seller to offer the batteries to AEVA members who missed out first. If they are not willing to do that, then I don't see any reason why other AEVA members shouldn't be made aware of who they are ... so they can contact them directly to acquire the batteries at the "righ...

Re: How does one buy a Zero in Australia?

Hi bladecar - no need to take my comments personally. A Zero SR does 0-100kph in 4 seconds at best. I know I've tested it many times and raced two eFXC series on my 2014 SR. The H2 would be under 3 seconds 0-100kph - https://goo.gl/3F6rRV. I was making the point from my own experience riding and rac...

Re: How does one buy a Zero in Australia?

I enquired to an ex-dealer on the Sunshine Coast in Q sometime last year. I found out that he was an ex-Zero-dealer because the US had decided to end sales in Australia and he could no longer obtain one at any price, so to speak. About a year later a BMW dealer employee said that he had just heard ...

Re: My home battery storage system

I'm looking to use an existing Goodwe 3600SBP battery inverter - see details at http://www.goodwe.com/Public/Uploads/products/GoodWE%20product%20flyer_SBP.pdf . These Goodwe battery inverters are ~$1500 RRP for the 3.6kW and ~$2100 for the 5kW model. I think that's excellent value and they are on th...

Pretty sure you'll see the Ioniq in Perth - there's already a bunch of the hybrid Ioniqs in Adelaide in a fleet trial. I'll have a chat to my Hyundai contact and see if I can find out more of their plans for Australia-wide release. I think it was July for the Ioniq. Kona later in the year as well as...

Renault Australia - making the same mistakes that Nissan and Mitsubishi made with the Leaf and imiev which crippled the adoption of lower cost EVs in Australia. Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

On the topic of off-peak killing storage - as we have seen in Queensland we will likely see off-peak hot water controlled loads shifted by the networks to the middle of the day - the problem of excess solar in QLD being exacerbated by the 44 cent feed-in tariff that rewards people for not consuming ...

Re: Home charging - solar diversion

I have one of the Zappi's at my home in Sydney. Works well as an EVSE however the firmware doesn't support three phase yet so I'm not able to use it in the Eco+ (solar only mode) effectively as it doesn't read the solar export/usage across all three phases ( I have a three phase solar inverter). It'...

Hi Aikirob - congrats on the Zero purchase! You can buy the 1kW Delta-Q chargers through Zero dealers in Australia and they are programmed to work with the Zero 116V battery packs. Unfortunately, you will find them expensive to buy them through Australian Zero retailers - I've been quoted ~AUD1600 f...
