Re: AVASS Battery order details

We're fortunate to have a 10kW PV system so filling a 22kWh battery is pretty easy, even in winter as long as the inverter is sized accordingly. The ex-accountant in me says buy the cheapest, the self-sufficient part of me says bigger and better inverter. The Selectronic and Victron are appealing bu...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

Yep, the Victron allows for a very flexible setup, including DC-coupled PV using a charge controller and a Multigrid to minimise grid imports - see 4:45 into this video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbpQzEZTElI . The Victron kit is a little underpowered and overpriced for AC-coupled grid-connec...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

It is possible to use the self-define setting on the Goodwe (rather than selecting an OEM lithium battery which uses CAN or RS485 comms and the OEM battery controls voltage/SOC limits). In that setting the upper voltage limits can be set but it doesn't do this for low voltages - for that the Goodwe ...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

May I suggest you ask for the seller to offer the batteries to AEVA members who missed out first. If they are not willing to do that, then I don't see any reason why other AEVA members shouldn't be made aware of who they are ... so they can contact them directly to acquire the batteries at the "righ...

Re: How does one buy a Zero in Australia?

Hi bladecar - no need to take my comments personally. A Zero SR does 0-100kph in 4 seconds at best. I know I've tested it many times and raced two eFXC series on my 2014 SR. The H2 would be under 3 seconds 0-100kph - https://goo.gl/3F6rRV. I was making the point from my own experience riding and rac...

Re: How does one buy a Zero in Australia?

I enquired to an ex-dealer on the Sunshine Coast in Q sometime last year. I found out that he was an ex-Zero-dealer because the US had decided to end sales in Australia and he could no longer obtain one at any price, so to speak. About a year later a BMW dealer employee said that he had just heard ...

Re: My home battery storage system

I'm looking to use an existing Goodwe 3600SBP battery inverter - see details at http://www.goodwe.com/Public/Uploads/products/GoodWE%20product%20flyer_SBP.pdf . These Goodwe battery inverters are ~$1500 RRP for the 3.6kW and ~$2100 for the 5kW model. I think that's excellent value and they are on th...

Re: Renault EVs

Pretty sure you'll see the Ioniq in Perth - there's already a bunch of the hybrid Ioniqs in Adelaide in a fleet trial. I'll have a chat to my Hyundai contact and see if I can find out more of their plans for Australia-wide release. I think it was July for the Ioniq. Kona later in the year as well as...

If you're impressed with the Zoe, then you're going to be blown away by the Ioniq for $5K less. Better performance, space, DC fast charging (up to 67kW on a 100kW station) and efficiency.

Re: Renault EVs

Renault Australia - making the same mistakes that Nissan and Mitsubishi made with the Leaf and imiev which crippled the adoption of lower cost EVs in Australia. Here's how they keep getting it wrong: - Over-price the vehicles on first release ($50k for a micro car like the Zoe is a joke - the equiva...

Re: The Energy Retailers Strike Back. Will Cheap Off Peak Rates Kill Battery Storage?

On the topic of off-peak killing storage - as we have seen in Queensland we will likely see off-peak hot water controlled loads shifted by the networks to the middle of the day - the problem of excess solar in QLD being exacerbated by the 44 cent feed-in tariff that rewards people for not consuming ...

Re: Home charging - solar diversion

I have one of the Zappi's at my home in Sydney. Works well as an EVSE however the firmware doesn't support three phase yet so I'm not able to use it in the Eco+ (solar only mode) effectively as it doesn't read the solar export/usage across all three phases ( I have a three phase solar inverter). It'...

Whwew to buy a quick charger?

Hi Aikirob - congrats on the Zero purchase! You can buy the 1kW Delta-Q chargers through Zero dealers in Australia and they are programmed to work with the Zero 116V battery packs. Unfortunately, you will find them expensive to buy them through Australian Zero retailers - I've been quoted ~AUD1600 f...

Was thinking of trying it today.

I've been towing a lightweight trailer and Zero SR motorcycle for track days and racing for the last 18 months including a few trips from Sydney to Goulburn and it handles the weight easily (although the load is under 500kg). Fuel economy from Sydney to Goulburn including charging at each end is 8l/...

Closing out this thread ...

I bought a Zero to J1772 adaptor from http://www.tucsonev.com that has 3 x C14 plugs. I know that consumption of each of my chargers so will be able to plug in to J1772 public chargers and keep under their rated capacity - usually 6.6kW.
