Re: 18v Power tool batteries ?
Here is the show your thinking of. https://youtu.be/evoMgyTuTEg Not very practical to use that many packs but good for smaller projects. Iam going to use 2 x 18V 4AH cordless tool batteries from Aldi to power my electric bike and can use them in my electric lawn mower as well. :-) I have tested them...

Yes, while it wouldn't be able to carry as much mail or parcels it would be a lot more fun to ride and more practical. Having said that it's hard to beat the simplicity and most importantly the maneuverability of a motorcycle.

The full Hyundai Ioniq range headed down under
My guess on the Ioniq pricing is the Hybrid for $34,000 the PHEV for close to $40,000 and the EV for around $50,000.
Would love to be wrong though and have the EV here for $40,000.

That is great news. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley1.gif http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley20.gif I was thinking we would only get the hybrid and possibly the PHEV. Let's hope the price of the PHEV and EV are reasonable. My next car could be a Hyundai. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smiley...

Hit a Kangaroo at 50kmh
I had a near miss with a big kangaroo in my dad's Leaf. It was on a very quiet country road after dark, glad I was traveling at 70kph instead of the 100kph speed limit! Sat at 60kph after that and a few km up the road I nearly hit an owl in the middle of the road. Sometimes EV's are just too quiet.

I saw a neat and simple idea on the mynissanleaf forums where someone used a battery powered motion sensor light on the inside of the charge door.

Nissan's 544km long range Nissan Leaf
The current model Leaf has a range of 225km on the Japanese test cycle so a 48kwh version could get close to double that figure. A 48kwh Leaf would have a real world range of 250km at 100kph which would be great if they don't cost too much.

I had my Vectrix plugged in and charging at queensgate carpark Fremantle with a timer on the outlet. Was only on charge for less than 10 mins and somebody turned the timer dial.
Luckily I had enough range to get home.

Get a price - Gold Coast Nissan
I think Nissan need to be pricing these old stock Leafs for under $30,000 if they want to sell them. Think there should be some ex lease Leafs on the market soon too?
There were some well priced Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV's for under $35,000 recently. They had done some km though.

I have the Ozito mower too. Swapped out the heavy lead acid pack and put in a lightweight RC Lipo pack that I also use on my electric mountain bike. I use 4x 22.2V 5AH packs wired in parallel. It's great! So light and easy to manouver.

Antiscab could it be the stacked arrangement of the battery pack contributing to the heat buildup? Toyota changed their Prius packs to a single layer of cells with the NHW11.

Oooh yes try it out.
Pedal to the metal and watch the power meter. From memory it only goes about 2 thirds of the way around and stops in Eco mode on the 2010 model.
