Re: i-MiEV Range *no discussion*

Our 2012 imievs batterys are sitting at about 9C temp and cannion reading is showing 34ah capacity.

2018 summer RR was showing around 100 - 134km max dead of winter now we are showing 90 - 110km. real world range is a bit over 100km in summer a tad under in winter.

Re: Tyres??

Just replaced the original rear tyres with Dunlop's with POTENZA RE050A 175/55R15 77V. From what I can see the tread depth is a lot deeper and wider than typical tire of this size. Will measure later to confirm.

Discounted price on tiresales for $146 each.

Mitsubishi do test there EV's through standing water. As you can see in the link bellow they test the imiev with the battery fully under waterhttps://insideevs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/14.jpg

Re: I-MiEVs for sale

I have a one owner white 2012 Imiev in very good condition 40,000km. Still showing 100 - 130km on the RR meter after a full charge (depending on the driving conditions). Includes Thule aero roof racks and a spare variable charge rate Siemens VersiCharge 30A EVSE. Would consider selling it for fare m...

Yes It looks like the old school linkage Brake bias perhaps to do with regen braking. Interesting to know why its deleted on the 2012 models perhaps they found a non mechanical way to do the same function.

Re: FS 2011 i-MiEV repairable writeoff (*SOLD*)

slightly off topic... just noticed something in the photo of the rear of the 2011 imiev where you can see the pan hard rod (tube that runs from the body of the car to one corner of the live axle. In the centre of this pan hard rod is a small tab welded to it with a short linkage rod connecting to a ...

lately I drive around 80km every day averaged over the week. (hasn't always been that way though) so to date our car only has around 45,000km on it. In that time I have replaced the original 12v lead acid ignition battery and the front tyres that's it. The car has never been back to Mitsubishi after...

Re: Driving an EV in slow moving traffic?

One advantage that the Imiev has is there is very little if driveline backlash. The electric motor is a gear on gear drive and a single reduction out to two very short drive shafts. That said you can induce a thump on rare accessions loading and unloading the drive but its more of a rubber (suspende...

Re: Lead Crystal batteries for non-EV application?

I wouldn't dismiss the weight saving of lithium in a motorhome. A smart all in one dc/dc converter - mains battery charger that can iron out alternator/mains power charging issues. Some can also Have PV inputs. The only issue I can see with batterys and motor homes ( its the same issue for all batte...

Thanks, good to know. Sounds reasonable for a 2012.

So at this stage the replacement battery at 12k is worth almost as much as the car.

2012 imiev

What's a low km (40k) solid 100km+ range one owner perfect condition Imiev worth on the 2nd hand market ?

Just looking into some options perhaps expressions of interest for our Imiev.

Re: Diesel generator + Tesla vs Diesel car

What I didn't expect, how efficient diesel genset is. Converting 4.4 litre of diesel (around 44kWh of contained energy) to 18kWh translates to 40-ish percent energy conversion. That is pretty damn good. I was thinking the same. Particularly if that's 18kwh into the Tesla battery. As it would have n...

Re: Diesel generator + Tesla vs Diesel car

That's what I have noticed now that I am (temporarily) paying for grid power at 40c KWH our Imiev is about the same running cost as a 5lt /100km diesel car at $1.40 lt fuel cost.

That said the drivability of a EV wins hands down without $ savings or pollution benefits.

Re: Inside an iMiEV's LEV50 cell

While our Imiev is still managing real wold 100km + range. The day will come when a battery replacement is required. I think the key to a pack rebuild would be to retian the OEM quality - reliability- safty rather that shooting for all out MAX performace. Even 50% more capacity at the same weight wo...

Re: Electric Vehicle Charging Hub in Adelaide

Charged our Imiev a few times this week. I agree it's been set out nice. One small improvement would be some shade while parked. Between this hub and the dc fast DC charger south of the city at Mitsubishi. I'm finding Adelaide to be very EV friendly. Not to mention flat as a pancake terrain assistin...

Range in wet weather

I'm sure there is some physics at play with the tyres needing to displace water on the road though I wouldn't expect it to be very significant. Just like the stock low RR tyres factory fitted to the Imiev are supposed to help with energy consumption. I now have stock sized replacement tyres but none...

PIP-4048MS inverter

Did you actually try this? Do you have mains available? I don't so can't try it. Of minor note. When I first set it to the higher current it ran at that for some minutes. Maybe 10 or more. It then started to drop out and ramp up. I wonder if some sort of self protection is going on. My gen set has ...

Yes it would be interesting to hear from some one who is able to sucsefully charge with the PIP at the full 60A from a genset or even mains as a starting point.

I haven't had a chance to play with it more.

mothballing my iMiEV

I let our Imiev sit for 5 weeks. Traction pack was around 50% (8 bars) parked in the garage. When we got home it was showing 8 bars and booted up up no issues. I'm sure there is some small load on the 12v battery along with the normal losses you see over time in a lead acid battery but not enough to...

Interesting Solarmahn. 430ah is a healthy head start. Like you say as long as they are consistent. And stay consistent for that matter. I use the same 400ah cells but 16 of them.
