Re: Leaf Advice Please
Terry that is brilliant! I would have a bit of trouble with hooking up a secondary battery so it would feed the first as I am a novice at electrical but this sounds like a great idea. I scoured the auction places with no luck on a Prius. There are two great possibilities for me to consider here. Que...

Re: Leaf Advice Please
Hi coulomb. Once again thanks for the info and advice on the Leaf and the earlier Prius suggestion from Terry as it has given me an insight into other options as well as the Leaf. Thanks to you both and stay well. I'll be looking into the Peach Jar lid thread too.

Re: Leaf Advice Please
Thanks coulomb for the reply to my original question re: running a Leaf for just low range use. Is there a battery charge point where the Leaf will not operate or could it keep running till the battery is depleted? (I would never do that to the battery of course).

Re: Leaf Advice Please
Hi Terry. Mate I really appreciate the advice you are giving me on this. the more research I put in the more excited I am about your Pius solution. I found a 2011 in QLD for $8900.00 which looks brilliant but the guy has stopped emailing me about it :( He didn't know if it had the EV Mode on it!!!! ...

Re: Leaf Advice Please
After a quick search I found 2005 Toyota Prius Hybrid Continuous Variable 5d Hatchback for $6,800. I don't know a lot about how these work? Do you still burn fuel to run the electrics or can you switch to all electric drive? Would hate to keep burning fuel. EDIT: Ahhh the 2010 - 2015 models have the...

Re: Leaf Advice Please
Hi Terry, Thanks for the reply. No faster than 50 kph zones. In fact I really only need a 10km range but 20k would be perfect. I'll have a look for a Gen 2 Prius. I don't have a bucket load of money although I could probably manage to build a battery with some help. (Electrics aren't my bag which is...

Leaf Advice Please
Hi. I have been a member of this forum for quite some time since looking into the early lead acid conversions when a Beetle body was actually affordable :) I never took the leap but I am revisiting the forum now and looking into getting a Leaf. I have recently read a lot about not getting an early L...

So what is the life expectancy of the lithium's? Is it worth looking at the used ones at all?

So after 4 years we are really in about the same state as we were cost wise as far as lithium's go?
Maybe I should leave it for another 4 years
(Just kidding).
Many thanks for the info

Hi Johnny
So for around $1000 you would get a bank of LiFePO4, as per jonescg's post earlier, that would get you around 150 k's range?
Thanks

Thanks for the responses....it's been so long since I looked at all this so please forgive my ignorance regarding Lithium batteries as I am not very tech savvy but what would a standard EV conversion for a light vehicle using the LiFePO4 be cost wise? I remember I was looking at using about 8 - 10 l...

Hi, I haven't posted here for quite some time now and just wondering what the current state of battery technology and pricing is? A couple years back I was looking at doing an EV conversion using a lead acid bank and could only dream of having a set of Lithium's. What is the pricing like nowadays? T...

Hi. Not sure if the pump is 3 phase or single as it was given to me.....but....since my last post I have phoned a couple solar power places for advice and they basically told me to forget battery power and go with a solar power system as this will offset the cost of running a pump???? Also one guy I...

Hi. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to run a 240 volt pool pump from a 12 Volt lead acid battery or a bank of them? I got a pump given to me and have hooked it up to my 5000 lt rainwater tank. Currently it's drawing from the grid but it would be great to run the pump from a solar rechargeable 1...
