Ha ha. It must be an environmentally friendly heater.
Nice build BTW. Good to see another classic EV coming together.

Re: PHEV Flood Fail

Thanks for the excellent summary Rob. Since I launch a boat with my PHEV, I'll check the underside carefully. (Although the rear wheels never touch water)

Re: Direct Drive Help

Back in the days of the Ford LTD and Landau (stretched body Fairlane and 2 door Fairmont) they suffered tail shaft vibration because of the long shaft and possibly because they weren't put together quite straight. The go was to put a hose clamp around the tail shaft, turn it to put the screw part i...

Re: Direct Drive Help

@Johnny got a sliding spline made for his Vogue at Precision Balancing in Melbourne http://electricvogue.blogspot.com/search?q=tailshaft&by-date=true I think his motor was imbalanced and so was the tailshaft. Sorry I should have piped up earlier. The motor was slightly off but my main problem is my...

Re: RETROFIT SOUND GENERATOR FOR EV?

My family bought me an EV version of the SoundRacer mid 2015. I constructed the Jetsons sound files for it and even made turbo sound files. It runs of my controller speed OP but I still haven't installed it.
The Shelby V8 really needs a BIG speaker to sound OK.

Is there anywhere the full range of cells and cell dimensions are documented? Thanking of maybe upgrading the Vogue . I'd be looking at 37ah.

Is that 13kw continuous at an RPM that you will be comfortable with? IE will you be whining along at 80kmh in 2nd gear. Mini gearboxes can be loud.

Re: Brendon_m Moke

While wheel motors would be great I can't see any engineer signing off on them without exhaustive testing - brakes etc. Getting the moke gearbox an oil reservoir of its own sounds like a good way to go - or an alternative very small car donor gearbox/diff.

Re: Brendon_m Moke

I reckon a moke will make a fantastic EV. Plenty of room for batteries in the sides (as well as engine bay). The trick is finding a suitable gearbox/diff for it as I'm not sure you could isolate the existing mini gearbox from the ICE. Looking on with interest.

Re: PHEV Flood Fail

I know from an insurance point of view that if water enters the cabin over the sill then the car is a statutory write off. If you take into account the bow wave while driving through water then 400mm is a reasonable figure to give to those who can't figure it out themselves. Easy disclaimer. I wish ...

Re: PHEV Flood Fail

I would say take this to the dealer with an eye to having it up on a hoist for very careful visual examination for missing or displaced seals around everything electronic. Also - mainly - check seals around sensors for ABS and any electrics around actual wheels. If you're keen, check wheels yourself...

Why couldn't this be used in a small car... ~1100kg... 50kw is enough to get it going, maybe not fast... ... I'm looking for CHEAP alternatives for a small car conversion. 80kph, 50km range would be fine. 50kw is plenty for a commuter. My daily drive can be held down to 30kw if I'm careful - mainly...

Re: i-miev DC/DC converter failure, not what we expected.

Good troubleshooting. That resistor has not just I over heated - it's catastrophically expired. That's unusual for a resistor unless it's maybe an inrush current limiter and the DC-DC switch stuff further along is the culprit. The resister simply acted like a fuse.

Why not just use one of these? www.oreillyauto.com/flux-capacitor?q=121g This is such a common mistake. Flux capacitors don't store energy as electricity, they store chronotons. These are released in a sub millisecond burst when the device exceeds a certain velocity with respect to a large nearby m...
