Battery mount design
I am building an entire car from scratch, these look like a walk in the park after the hell i am going through designing the suspension. The painful thing about al is that you cant weld it up like steel. We made AL "trays" for the SAE EV racer that used packing tap to hold the cells in pla...

What thinking more along the lines of some kind of plastic sheilded steel to pin the cells in place, but i do see one problem i didnt really thing of... how to connect the BMS if i have great bar over the middle of my cells. time t...

Steve's 2008 Mazda 2 conversion
Hi Steve,
Amazing looking conversion, enjoy it! It does not matter how you got it, just that you now have it.
Also agree that the strips match the car very well. The in look at the moment is the white and black.
cheers,
Taffy

Honda HRV / Electric / Petrol Hybrid
That was alot of info in 1 short post.
60-100K's on batteries! And its still a hybrid! That is better then alot of peoples full EV.
Can ask the scary question, rough $ cost for doing this?
Also how are you controller the petrol motor and electric motor combo? EG which one is on when, etc?

^^^ Very good point! You can reduce this issue by taking seats out (removing the seat belt). So if you have a 5 seater you can remove 1 seat belt and still have your 4 with an extra 85kg.
You need to allow 85kg per pass from memory.

I would find a few cars the meet the $, 4 seats, etc criteria. Then calculate the drag force and power required to meet 80kph. Then calculate the continous power from controller and motor. If they can meet the req for the car, select a battery pack and size it to suit the car & range. Then do so...
