OXIS energy & Bye Aerospace eAircraft

Things to come... Compared to existing Li-ion battery systems technology, the high gravimetric energy density of the OXIS technology – in excess of 500 Wh/kg at 20Ah capacity offers a two-fold reduction in battery system weight resulting in a significant increase in flight duration. https://www.aero...

Okay so you seem to have A LOT of time on your hands.
NONE of your rant above had anything to do with importing cars.

Re: No more i-miev's

Lets say you drive 300,000km before a battery change in 10 years on the standard pack. Now lets say you still drive 300,000km in the 10 years but you pay an extra $10,000 for a bigger pack. Or perhaps you still drive 300,000km in the 10 years but pay an extra $25,000 for a super sized pack. Then may...

Re: No more i-miev's

Richo doesn't own a non-production ev because Western Australian technology, being top-class, has prevented him from finishing whichever car he says he is building (after 11 years). Yep paying jobs are more important that my own interests. Sadly no one has paid me to build all the components requir...

Well it was a pun on the docco "who killed the electric car" in that they got rid of the EV1 for apparently no good reason.

But I guess profit is good a reason as any

So I have been corrected on this point.
Seems the plane can be made lighter but on the other side of the coin people have got fatter over the last 40 years.
So the net weight is the same

Re: Importing electric cars into Australia

There are quite a few reasonably priced ev's out in the world. Unfortunately most are not available in Australia. And to that most probably wouldn't pass our current regulations without heavy modifications at extra expense. Initially they look appealing to import until you go into all those extra co...

1979 Mauro Solar Riser

So 40 years ago someone built an electric plane. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauro_Solar_Riser 30V nicad pack and a starter motor. With 2.6kW it had a top speed of 32kph. That's 82Wh/km or nearly twice as efficient as a small eV. 40 years ago... Even now I know with current technology this could b...

Re: No more i-miev's

Another trouble is that is barely changed in almost a decade, while technology keeps marching on. Not really. The motor, controller and batteries that are in the i-miev are all still relevant. Only the looks and gimmicky junk that is in the car has changed. It should have been a consolidation of pa...

3) What is the import duty on these vehicles into NSW? Well duty is federal not state. It also depends on the vehicle classification. As far as the water storage generation, does the fall need to be that great? Ep=mgh (Joules) 1kWh=3,600,000J=m x 9.8 x h If you have a "small" tank of 17,466L this is 17466kg of water. 3,600,000 = 17466 x 9.8 x h h = 21.0 m (ideally) For 1kWh  The return efficiency will be signific...

Re: Vectrix acceleration and throttle problem.

It does kind of point to the encoder connector or the board is dirty. The PCB AND components should have a shiny clear coat over it. If it doesn't I'd suggest disconnecting the connector/power to it cleaning it with IPA and then coating it with PCB Lacquer. Make sure the connector holes and pins are...
