I'd love to get a direct drive dual shaft motor, but that seems unrealistic
Agreed - it does seem unrealistic.

2 smaller pancake motors back to back perhaps.

Currently the right hand drive Model 3 is optimistically set for mid next year
Hmmm from my understanding that is what they said last year.
Especially annoying when other people get priority rather than when the order was placed.

Model 3 pre-orders
Well its their own fault for taking forEVER to make them.

But Tesla and Kona would be a different market.
Sure some will jump.
That will come down to:
1. If they had that choice of cars to start with.
2. The "i need it now" generation.

Re: TE Connectivity contactors

The above are proper DC relays.
Not regular relays that claim 200-300VDC under exceptional conditions.

Re: TE Connectivity contactors

So I ended up buying 5 of the mini-K contactor. They were about $25ea. Sad part was I decided I also wanted to isolate the charger from the pack when not charging. And now I can't get the mini-K contactors for $25 anymore - they are more like $100+ So I had another look around for some more smaller ...

Re: Hyundai Australia Kona EV info

yeah as far as hatchbacks go it's ok.
Probably the best electric one anyway.

So as far as I can see the difference between a hatchback and small suv is:
Snub nose
Impossibly small window at the back to make it easier to run kids over
Larger wheel arches
And whole vehicle raised UP 2-4 inches.

Re: Aux battery charging problems

As an off chance it still could be the battery. Lets say one cell is dead and has a typical output of 1.0V. So when you charge to 13.5v that means the other 3 cells are charged to 4.1V. As this battery has an internal BMS it could be doing something when it detects a fault. So it may take the 20min ...

Re: Aux battery charging problems

Well I figured if I ask enough random questions I'm bound to get somewhere  Given the battery does charge and both solar controllers are doing a similar thing it does look more towards the panels and its wiring. The only other question I didn't ask were: 1. Did it ever work? 2. When did it sto...

Perhaps it's your PV panel.
Under load is it ~17V?

Re: Aux battery charging problems

Ah ok.
12V 90W solar panel.
Do you actually expect that to charge a 12V battery to 14V?
Most solar controllers will accept a higher voltage (24V PV panel) and drop down to 14V.
Usually they don't boost a 12V panel up to 14V.

Re: Aux battery charging problems

Ok there seems to be missing information here?!?

Can you actually charge your aux battery to 14V by any other method eg lab power supply?
Can you measure the individual cells in the Aux battery?

The reason I ask is it may not be the dc/dc OR solar controllers but the AUX BATTERY.

Yeah I'm skeptical.
Small SUV styled car?!?
I say it's a hatch back.
I Repeat it's a hatchback.

At least it meets the "S" criteria with 150kW.

Re: electric DC car motor 70Kw, 96 - 144V wanted

http://www.evmotors.com.au/products/fb1.html 21kW continuous, 75kW peak 144V Description says drives a 2000kg vehicle very well. No regen though It's a 9" series DC motor... An induction motor about the same size will typically have the same power. 300Nm peak at 100kW peak would be 3183RPM So 140Nm...

Re: jonescg's home battery storage system

I'm not too keen on your wiring panel at the top of the rack being made out of wood. It looks like at least one line is actually mounted to it through your brass bar. Wood absorbs moisture. I'd replace only that part with acrylic or polycarb or use another iso mount bar. Otherwise very nice 8-) I ha...

Re: Oversized RC BLDC Outrunners

No I don't think any of these above are suitable for direct drive.
You really need 2-3 times the torque of the original ICE to go direct drive.
This is where the series DC motors are better suited.

Re: Oversized RC BLDC Outrunners

You would also need 10kWh+ for 50km range minimum say ~$5k.
28 Leaf modules (14S2P) is about 11kWh 106Vnom 115Vchgd.
