Re: Seeking opinions on independent Twin motors with different gearing

Sorry I don't see what benefit you would get stuffing around with AWD. If you take 1st gear ratio + diff and add about 20% ie if was a turbo etc then using that torque direct drive you end up with around 200kW. So as if you were stuck in 1st gear with a turbo but still goes up to 150kph+ Estimated i...

Nice Hoist - I'm there 8-)

What about the BMS?
Do you have to remove the lid of the battery modules to fit that?

Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

This is an interesting youtube link to a company supplying a supercapacitor product on a slightly larger scale.. with a storage of 1.5 MW... MW is POWER - NOT storage. Utility companies tent to provide info in terms of MW capability. How much instantaneous power they can provide. You could get a MW...

Re: Planning Scooter Conversion

Sorry this thread is 5 years old. I'd reckon its close to 100% that it never was built. The $1000 value limit before gst is collected has also been lowered No its still $1,000. The difference now is that GST is collected from the supplier overseas. Under $1,000 customs still don't look at it. IF GST...

Re: Numberplate ID for EV and Hydrogen Vehicles

The usual first action is to disconnect the engine battery and in most cases that cuts off the petrol/diesel/LPG/HV battery, so I'm guessing hydrogen fuel vehicles would follow the same safety protocol. I'm not so sure about this. A running petrol car without the battery is supplied by the alternat...

Re: Numberplate ID for EV and Hydrogen Vehicles

I'm all for it. It'll be great to know that the car stuck on the side of the road is a hydrogen car and has no chance of refueling so will be there for some time. But how will emergency services know between a regular petrol car and a hydrogen car that had the label fall off? Shouldn't we have...

The car manufacturers like it because it's a system that fits the old model.

Tin has 0.65V and Nickel is 0.30V. Most copper lugs are tin plated. My preference is Nickel plating. I did contact these people some time ago about plating busbars but never actually ...

Re: All about the money :)

I was really surprised that the battery consists of so many cells, from a layman's perspective it doesn't seem like the best way to construct a battery, but then again I'm sure there's method to the madness. It cuts down on weight and the battery pack can be shaped to maximise space. Barring racing...

By direct drive is that to say to bypass the gearbox? I mean that would be ideal, and the conversation I had with the fellow who is selling this setup indicated it would have the guts to do so The AC-51 is rated for 155Nm Peak. This is similar to a 2L petrol motor. Going direct drive would mean dri...
