Re: Francisco's Electric Pajero

It may be possible to get more than 5C if I cool the batteries. Usually the internal resistance plays a part. Increase the current the terminal voltage drops further. So increasing current / C-rating may not increase the peak power. It will however give it to you a fraction longer. Still 300kW is b...

Re: Aluminium Air battery

Sorry yes that should be 2500Wh/kg for the total flow cell. Its a flow cell - presumably with replaceable solution. So thier claim was 1kg of ali will have a useable range of ~700km before replacing the ali plates. You would still need 40-50kg of solution. But this is still no bigger than the fuel t...

I pointed out that the old battery pack belongs to me.
I've been waiting for this to happen.
The only way this would not be the case is the conditions of accepting the new battery pack.
But true would never hold up in court.

1kg of aluminum 700km range.(unsubstantiated)
Use then replace.

Some form of modified flow cell.

I am unsure of the weight of 60kwh worth of batteries but it will be loosing a lot of weight from the stuff that will come out. Here are some approx weights for 60kWh: LiFePO4 cylindrical 652kg LiFePO4 prismatic 594kg Leaf modules 518kg Tesla modules 268kg Sorry I haven't checked the cost or if all...

Re: Francisco's Electric Pajero

Even a decent sized pack of 20kWh prismatic lithium cells with 10C peak will be 200kW. More than this I'd think you'd go over the GVM. So I'm guessing current limiting will be the flavour of the day. Other than using LTO's where you trade range for power. Still it'd be an awesome view pulling 600kW ...

Re: Francisco's Electric Pajero

Just a quick Check.
Leaf cells would be like 80kWh so not realistic.

SCiB LTO 12kWh pack with ~45km range would be about AUD$35,000 could get you 700kW.

After the measurements on the motor I worked out that I can get 300kw (maybe more) peak and about 150kw continuous per motor.
So the total peak power will be around 600kw.
And where will the 600kW (700kW after losses) come from?

Bridge Rectified mains is 100Hz - 10ms -> 21J.

So mostly these days its a PFC then flyback SMPS.
60kHz -> 16uS -> 0.035J
All the components become much smaller.

Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

Understandably a complete system balancer is cheaper than a per-cell module. I can't stand all the wires personally. I'll only have a per-cell BMS in my ev - no wires. Costs a bit more but no chance of a wiring issue. The black bootlaces are 1.5mm. So 10-15A wire max. 18 wires in a bundle. Sounds de...

Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

So the balance wires from each block of parallel "cap" is cable tied to it neighbour and runs off to the balance board. Should ANY joint fail and short out anywhere - BOOM. Not to mention the extra heat from bundling all the wires together would have to be de-rated to be safe. Should the middle wire...

Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

The unit was supposed to be fully discharged, having run a water heater overnight. Measuring across the terminals, we found about 30V. In a "capacitor" system not all of the stored energy can actually be used. So at some point a DC/DC that keeps the output useable will shut down even though there i...

Re: Arvio 3.5kWh drop-in-battery-replacement supercapacitor on sale

Two problems here: 1. Supercapacitors do not explode or burn during over-charge 2. Where are the protection circuits? 1. Can't say I've tried over-charging given that generic supercaps costs are high. I would have thought they explode in a ball of fire like any other cap. More-so since they have an...

I have decided that a Leaf motor and differential is probably the best option for the CRX.
Wow I haven't seen one of these yet to buy.
That's how I ended up with the Hyundai motor.

Any clues how much the leaf motor+transmission costs?
