Electric Vehicles in Last Newcastle Hill Climb

I see from the results that you managed 12th outright and a run of 40.37, nice effort. http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley20.gif How did you find the course? Just over 2 seconds quicker than the Tesla too. Much interest shown by other competitors and spectators in the EVs? The course was prett...

Cheers! Let's hope it causes a stir coz it's electric and fast....not because I hit a wall. :-)

Electric Vehicles in Last Newcastle Hill Climb

The NSW State Hill Climb Championship is being held at King Edward Park in Newcastle this Sunday 4th October 2015. Due to planned Council developments to King Edward Park, this is the last time this historic race will be held in Newcastle and it is also the first time that Electric Vehicles will com...

Newcastle Branch

If John couldn't make it, we could use my workshop as a fall back. It's only about 1km from Catavolt.

My preference would be Tuesday nights.

Any that pop-up seem to be the non-performance versions in bad colours with the ugly basic wheels. :-/

It was designed to support CHAdeMO, but it has not yet been implemented.

Leaving chargers hooked up

Hey Chris, This is exactly what my DC Fast Charger for the ELMOFO Radical is. It is a grid-independent 100kW DC Fast Charger with a 62kWh ELMOFO/Kokam High Power Lithium Pack. It's fully adjustable....but we run at charge rates of up to 250A at 400V! When we are at the track for a full day of racing...

The reality is that, even if some bold entrepreneurial type went to the trouble of bringing the Lightning to Oz, pretty much everyone would bork at the price and it would be a wasted effort.

Nice to dream though....

Nice...but not exactly "the first race team to compete in a CAMS speed event using a solely electric powered vehicle" as your website claims.

WANTED TO BUY: 100Ah or 200Ah LiFePO4 Cells

Hey Chris. We wort of need them now...or possibly 1 to 2 weeks max.

The project had a lot of umming and ahhing and now it's urgent. :-/

We have Leaf cells or Kokam cells that we can use...but they would be wasted in this low current application.

WANTED TO BUY: 100Ah or 200Ah LiFePO4 Cells

We have a solar project requiring another 32 x 100Ah (or 16 x 200Ah) Prismatic LiFePO4 cells and are struggling to find a supplier with sufficient stock. Does anyone have this sort of quantity of UNUSED cells sitting around that may not actually make it into the project for which they were destined?...

i was kind of kidding but i do see 1 big problem transporting a DC storage pack (times number of teams) they go nuts if you send a 10AH 3S lipo so what will you do with XXXGw/h of storage? They got their in-car Lithium pack UL certified so that it can fly allowing them to fly the cars around as req...

Nice....but no need.

They charge the storage packs off-site prior to the events and then "dump" it into the cars as required. The storage packs just need to be sized to allow the required number of recharges.

Yeah but can you really imagine a full field of cars trying to fast charge at the same time between events? Can anyone say power outage... Aha....exactly! That's why they need to use a DC to DC Fast Charger where all teams bring their own power to the track in their own storage packs. These storage...

The flip side of this is with quick change batteries, we could potentially see better racing. I would like to see unlimited swaps for batteries and tyres in a longer F1 length race. That way we can see the true potential not just another limiter on the sport like we have with fixed fuelling. Or...d...

Didn't notice a huge amount of gear change noise, as I presume that it would be a fairly close ratio box compared to an F1 ICE box, since they are doing about half the speed and have the added benefit of extra torque of the bat. Yes I guess risk is one element that brings people to motorsport but I...
