Re: Expressions of Interest - Electric buses for sale!

Just considering the worst case scenario here. Most vehicles can end up with a special licence in Australia if they were able to be licensed in other countries. The process may cost many thousands of dollars to work through. It may be though that the special licence will exclude them from public use...

Anyone in Rockingham area WA can check out a solar grid connect inverter ?

I just had a call from a chap in Rockingham who has a PV system and Growatt inverter out of 5 year warranty. He has a fault and needs the system checked out. Paying job. I spoke to him on phone and he realises the inverter may be faulty and require replacement. Rockingham is out of my area. Usual st...

" On the other topic in my first post, I recorded some data from the friend's system and clearly established that the LG CHEM 12.8kWh lithium battery is only working at half capacity. I supplied the data to the battery supplier and LG has agreed to replace the whole 12 month old battery. I will rep...

Re: Wind Turbine vertical axis

Close to true.
Rottnest Island, Albany, Geraldton, Badgingarra etc etc are places you don't want to live ! ;) I get the point though.

Bucketing rain and dark sky here ATM.
PVs at 4% capacity, WT at 31% so lets call it bad weather power.

Re: Wind Turbine vertical axis

Thanks for the comments guys. I don't see any positive feedback on VAWTs on the net. I would say that my '1kW' 400RPM 3 blade 2.4m dia HAWT atop a hill in the country can deliver no useable power for 3 weeks and then an average 800W for a week 24/7 with peaks of 1.2kW when braking cuts in. So in a g...

I have been asked by a local to check his off grid power system as it is not performing as expected. He has 6kW of ground mounted 265W mono PVs in two stings around 500V MPV connected to an SMA 4.6kW GCI to house main and a 12.8kW 48V LG CHEM resu (6.4 + 3.2 + 3.2 expansion battery) Lithium battery ...

So has anyone had their passenger side airbag replaced under the recall ? What was the experience ?
Does any service centre in WA have replacement airbags in stock ?

I-MiEV Main battery cell failure

+1 with Jonny's reasoning. You don't get all cells to 4.105V at full charge by chance. They are balanced every time from when the first cell reaches 4.105V. (at least if not sooner) Remember it is winter and the pack will have lower capacity by temperature. My feeling is that after any cell goes bel...

iMiev Recall notice

A similar issue which I wish they'd fix is that if you're on an incline, the iMiEV will roll when not in Ready. I've been parked in a driveway which slopes down to the road, listening to the radio. Then thinking the iMiEV is on (or ignition not activating "ready"), dropped the handbrake and thought...

I-MiEV Charge stopped before completion

OK, perhaps getting to the issue then... More thoughts.. Always day time ? November and maybe March/April is similar condition ? Grid connect solar causes ripple on the 240V mains. This is likely to be at 3% or is it 5% max distortion of the pure sine wave. Ripple frequency depends on your and neigh...

philipowen, Thoughts.... The 'November each year at Darlington' has to be a big clue. Power quality, temperature, time of day, switching loads at your house or neighbourhood. Western power transformer tap switching as season changes. Do you ( or neighbours ) have grid connect solar panels ? What tim...

Those are the tyres I run.
Very happy with them.
Price sounds fine.

change the oil in the diff (auto trans fluid ATFII 750ml) if not already done   .25hr it is arguable, but change the brake fluid every 2 years, if not already done    .5hr inspect the brake pads/rotors/drums.... will be less than 5% wear if like mine and really don't require any attention as they ar...

Since the 12V battery is not covered under the 5 year warranty maybe they are fishing for, say, $350 to replace it... otherwise they haven't sold you anything as a service centre ?

Did I break any laws?

'Illegal' means there is a LAW against doing something. There is no actual specific law against emergency charging of an EV. In fact, there is no law against plugging into a power point in a public place. Regular charging would be pushing the friendship though, although my local shire welcomes me to...

Andrew's opinion is quite correct from an accountant's point of view. That reminds us never to let our lives be run by an accountant. Local councils (and the RAC) are one of the few organisations who have little vested interest in the Status Quo of ICE and oil. They are free to support new, world ch...

Sixth-year servicing on the iMiev

Interesting theory. Just thinking on the topic.... Only the fluid in the slave cylinder would get hot. Slave cylinder is ‘sealed’. Heating that fluid above 100degC would force water back up brake line to master cylinder and reservoir. Water is still in system. Clearly best to keep moist air off flui...
