Re: ZS EV battery warranty

I can't make sense of your theory that Nagaman's theory doesn't make sense. ICE warranty and service demands have maintained the big manufacturers. Especially with a diesel, if you don't maintain them, particularly with oil and filters, their motors will clog readily. A 'friend of a friend' apparent...

Boyer Lecture on ABC24 tonight (at 7.30?)

Oh, Saw a BMW I3 waiting beside me at the lights today. Sort of trying to get his attention but he never stopped playing with stuff on his dash :D
Further down the road, passed two white Tesla 3's going the other way.

I see David Attenborough stressing over the future of the planet as he ponders his own mortality. The real problem is what Isaac Asimov discusses in this 1988 video. We can argue about the possibilities for future energy but we may not talk about the most important subject of all. https://youtu.be/q...

Andrew Forrest and the 2021 Boyer Lecture

Hi, The ABC, (the most reliable news organisation in Australia, in my opinion) and the least biased (in my opinion). Now that I've got that off my chest. Andrew Forrest's text for the upcoming Boyer Lecture of 2021 goes on about making steel-making "green" or maybe "greener". He ...

Re: help with reader error codes?

Hi,
A couple of years ago, my 2011/2012 imiev did just that although it faulted occasionally before it faulted for good.
In the case of my car, it turned out to be the bms ($980 or $990, not sure) which I got Mitsubishi to replace and that fixed it.
Just saying what was wrong with my car :)

So that's what a Zoe looks like. I saw the Hyundai that uses the Elantra body in Brisbane traffic in the last week. Knew what it was from the lack of a grill, again.

But I'd like my nice new car to be just as new when I set out around Darwin (cost has not been taken into account).

I wouldn't do it :) but there's so many things I wouldn't do (like leave the Country). I'm very interested to find out what others think but I don't think there's anything to prove by doing this. I don't know the route but I'm guessing you'd need lots of people to allow you to use their power. The b...

Re: Prospective EV owner

Just to bring up something random, I was led to believe recently that there are EV s out there which allow you to power your house with the car battery (or is that only export to the grid from the car battery). Anyway, a reason to possibly buy a 2nd hand ev would be if you could use the car battery ...

Hi All :) What do you think of the siting of a large battery farm on the site of a disused coal-fired power station. The ABC did a story the other day about these people in Tasmania who got together and did a group-buy of 2nd hand leafs from Japan (about 20 at once, I think). Re: 12V auxiliary battery replacement

Hi, My 2011/2012 imiev (not sure) went dead in the last week. Lucky I realised the most likely fault was the 12V battery and it was reading 3.8V. (I might have written this in a recent post??). I put on the new-style charger and it came up good. The radio asked for the 'code' to make it work (such a...

I didn't drive my car a lot and so I thought it possible that the 12V may not have been fully charged when I started the trip. Then I was driving in rain (wipers on) sitting for a while with the radio on, the lights on, the A/C on and a little way up the road, no throttle. It did start sporadically ...

I had no evidence but I wondered at one point if, when using the A/C and lights and wipers while raining, whether the DC/DC was maintaining voltage in the 12V. I wondered this because it was the situation one day when it decided to fail. Tesla would not have survived without a lot of money, a huge m...

When I was wanting to time the charging of an EV, I never found a timer that could handle more than 10 amps and I'm thinking that all your modern EV's would be wanting more than 10 amps. So has anyone found a timer for charging that will handle more than 10 amps? :) If not, keep this in mind :)
