Re: My new LTO cell battery pack build
Hi Terry, Please make sure you read the "diary" pdf here https://www.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0004/18886/MR1547-Vehicle-Identity-Assessment-Fact-Sheet.pdf , there are identification requirements, vin numbers, invoices, etc for parts and also important information you need from the ...

Re: My new LTO cell battery pack build
Terry, that's good news, and I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but I don't know if you have dealt with a "repairable write-off" in SA recently, there are a bunch of very important hoops you must jump through now. The govt website https://www.sa.gov.au/topics/driving-and-transport/vehi...

Tell SA-Best to vote down the EV Tax
Hi, The SA EV tax will most likely be put to parliament next week. Labour and the Greens have said they will vote against it so the deciding votes will be the two members of the SA-Best party. If you can spare a minute to let them know that you think they should reject the bill you can email them vi...

You could try these guys in the USA, https://batteryhookup.com/ they sell new and used cells of all different chemistry (individual cells and packs) and they ship to OZ (but it isn't cheap).

Re: Thermal paste replacement interval
I use Kryonaut https://www.thermal-grizzly.com/en/products/16-kryonaut-en on all my cpu and gpu applications, if you maintain the temp under 80°C it won't dry out. It is expensive but you don't use much. The company that makes it also make thermal pads in both electrically conductive and non-conduct...

Re: Electric Maserati
Connecting in series will definitely help with torque as in parallel each motor is only seeing half the amps from the controller, (eg. if the controller is outputing 1000A, each motor is only seeing 500A) which affects torque. John fitted a switch to go between series and parallel half way down the ...

Re: Electric Maserati
I'm not sure why 2 x 8" motors wouldn't give you enough torque. White Zombie ran dual 8" motors back in 2000 http://www.plasmaboyracing.com/zombie2000late.html , and wasn't short on torque (and was still running on crappy lead acid batteries but at twice the voltage you have) and destroyed...

From the budget statement 2020-21 https://statebudget.sa.gov.au/budget-docs/2020-21_budget_statement.pdf p.10. In addition to the measures announced in the budget, the government is intending to introduce a road user charge for electric and zero emission vehicles. The user charge is expected to comm...

Re: SA govt to introduce road user tax for electric vehicles
It could well be cheaper to drive my hybrid than my ev, and there is no link between the revenue raised from petrol tax and funding for roads, it all goes to general revenue.

Whilst I haven't imported any ev parts or vehicles from the US for quite a few years (I worked for an importer many years ago), you could contact these guys https://www.hemi.com.au/ they are based in Adelaide, one of my current workmates uses them regularly for importing parts (they don't care if th...

Re: E-glide I-drive
I think the e-glide skateboards are brushed dc motors (are there 2 or 3 wires going to the motor?), there are plenty of ebay/aliexpress 36v 1000w controllers out there and I think the e-glide used a wired hand throttle(?), which makes it easier as any controller designed for brushed motor electric s...

I think Johnny has the right idea, customs agents know all the ins and outs. If however you are clutching at straws, there is allowance in the act for importing vehicles for the purpose of racing/support vehicles that cannot be registered or driven/ridden on the road. Web page here https://infrastru...

Re: New Blade Electron owner
Hi Tim, Have you checked all the soldered connections that go on the back of the plug mounted to the side of the box? Soldered joints in an automotive application are always a problem, they should have used crimped connections. When was the last time you saw an OEM with soldered connections? There's...

Re: New Blade Electron owner
Hi Tim, I can't help out much with wiring diagrams, I would find them pretty helpful too. Most of the issues I am fighting in mine seem to centre around the connections to the tritium controller which acts as a "middle man" between the VCU/MCU and the BMS. It's in the stainless steel box a...

Re: 20kW+ Motor wanted..
Depending on the application, the electric rear motor in some Toyota/Lexus hybrids (part # Q211) is approximately 50kW peak, is air cooled and has an integrated differential. You should be able to buy one locally from a wrecker from a Lexus RX400h. Even if from a high mileage vehicle it should be in...
