And G'day back Mick! Sorry about the slow reply: I rarely get to 'lounge'! (Been busy with EV events in Vic for last 5 or 6 weeks now!) EV conversions are fun - just do your sums (EV conversions are around high 20's for a good DC conversion and low 30's for an AC - plus any body etc resto work for a...

Re: Simple type 2 outlet for home charging
Hi Charles - so long as you are an electrician to be able to safely (and legally) build and hard-wire a home built EVSE, or get an electrician to put a separate circuit and socket outlet (i.e. with circuit breaker at the board) so you can plug in the EVSE you build, or have a electrician mate who is...

Hi Bill - re EVSEs - have just written an article for ReNew to help homeowners get up to speed with what is/isn't possible re EVSE choices to better inform them before calling in the electrician. Should be in newsagents (or in your letterbox if you subscribe) in next few days.

Re: Simple type 2 outlet for home charging
Hi there-standard (and car) requires the lead to be 'dead' if car is not charging. Electronics in evse are needed for car to accept electricity from evse. Just a type 2 socket will not work for a mass market ev. (See Modular Power AVC2 for pilot and control explanation evse electronics also availabl...

Re: 2011 nissan leaf
FYI: I have a 2011 Leaf (16 came in for Vic EV trial and were sold off after) so no-go to import one - but just having that series oficially imported negates bringing them in privately, no matter which year. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. Bryce
