Re: EV Buyers Guide – choosing an EV type that suits you

Was driving it yesterday - a blue Zoe.
Was hard to give it back after our AEVA display weekend!
Pity it doesn't have DC fast-charge (my 5th item to your 4 item list) or I'd order one. (Now waiting to look at the Kona EV when it arrives).
Cheers

Re: Zoe charging

Hi Lou - Zoes here are only 22kW for three phase charging (7kW/30A per phase). I believe Renault de-tuned the charging rate with the increase in battery size from 22 to 41 kWh. (Something to do with too much heat build-up in the longer charge time perhaps?) Also - there are no 43kW (60A/phase) AC ch...

EV Buyers Guide – choosing an EV type that suits you

Hi all - as per my promise in EVNews - here is the thread for discussing the criteria for choosing an EV type that suits you .... So what do people think are the defining criteria for choosing between an EV type to buy? I tried my best to define some parameters - but there will be issues and experie...

Hi Lou-have you spoken to the new Australian distributor of the Zapi yet? Rus is very helpful. They are a corporate AEVA member too. EVolution's details in 'Product Review' in latest EVNews. (As in a hint that Oct-Dec issue went out on Sunday so look out in you email inbox :-)

Re: Our new Zoe

Hi Lou - I believe a batch of around 50 2017 R90s were sent to Australia. Best guess is that about half to 2/3rds of them are now sold. Ditto re Eco mode - my test drive initially seemed quite sluggish and I was quite disappointed - till I discovered the dealer had left it in Eco. Went much better o...

Re: Cost to install 32A dedicated circuit

Hi Lou - unfortunately what you are asking for is 'how long is a piece of string'! It can range between $600 and $10,000 depending on if/how much upgrade work is needed to supply 32A. If you want a detailed consumer oriented info article on the ins & outs of installing an EVSE at home - see ReNew ma...

Re: 2nd Hand LEAF

Just in passing for those looking to assess a secondhand Leaf. My 2011 Leaf has 9 bars left at 40,000km but still does 100km in summer and 80 in winter. Guess-o-meter is absolutely useless for knowing range on it though. Leaf-Spy very much more helpful.

Short answer: unless you are using it as a base to rebuild to your own specifications, don't! (They are a nightmare to fix as no two are the same).

Re: Repair 10A-15A Converter?

Hi there-a few quick answers as an electrician and trade teacher. 10mA is for medical area use. Cheap RCDs are a matter of 'you get what you pay for' - have seen several failures (and recalls) of cheapies. Clipsal ones are quite good. L&H not small customer oriented-they target large customers and o...
