Engineering Signatories

Just wondering who people have used to get their EV registered and how much it cost. I'm looking for a signatory somewhere in south Sydney but preferably someone who has done a conversion before.

DC to DC converters

I know I am late to the party but I have a 72-12V 300W Kelly DC-DC converter that I no longer need (i'm going to run @48V instead of 72). If anyone is interested I will sell it cheap. I think it cost me US$100 + postage but I'll take an offer to recover some portion of that cost.
Cheers

Exchange rates and Thundersky batteries

Hey guys, I'm finally making progress in saving for my 72V 60Ah TS battery pack for my motorbike, it looks like I'll be able to order them is april/may. But with the AUD diving against the USD I was worried until I saw this graph : http://www.exchange-rates/Chartxiso_code=AUD&base_iso_code=CNY&mode=...

Project Better Place No3 is Australia!

This is honestly the best news I have heard in ages. I am a big fan of the project better place model, and have been following it since the first announcement of the Israel network. To have it happen in Australia so soon is fantastic as it removes the difficulties of battery cost and limited range, ...

Ozgrown Electric 1/4 mile Doorslammer

This would be a really good way to promote AEVA across Australia if we could wipe the floor with the ICE guys at drags strips around the country. I'm not sure how many Aussie AEVA members there are but if there are enough willing people I'm sure we could pool together some cash (% of membership fees...

Well the bike has been on the back burner for the past few months because of the pointy end of my college semester and moving house. But it now lives in the garage of my good friend tim and this weekend I got back on the horse and got some work done. The front brakes were seized so I took apart and ...

Electric Mororcycle has officially begun!!!

Well, I'm happy with those performance guesstimates, I hoping to gear for 100km/hr and see how I go. I was just going for similar to a 250CC commuter bike, but if I can keep up with a Ninja R version I'd be pretty happy. There are a bunch of photo's here . So far with the suppliers I have sought out...

Electric Mororcycle has officially begun!!!

That's good to hear, that was my major worry about the batteries. Not that I will be pulling 300A very often but I'm sure every once in a while it would be good to be able to disprove the slow EV myth with a burst of acceleration at 300A, If I've worked it out right it should take around 100A contin...

Hey matt what's the max current you can pull out of your 40Ahs? I'm hoping to meet the motor spec of 300A burst with my 60Ah batteries (5C) but I'm not sure if they'll do it healthily.

Group buy of impressive PHET Lifepo cells

Thanks that is really helpful, apparently the engineers at PHET were saying that the best way to do these packs were to assemble 18650 cells into packs, the only problem is its going to cost $6 per cell for an assembled pack. I has hoping for $3 http://forums.aeva.asn.au/smileys/smiley19.gif . How m...

Group buy of impressive PHET Lifepo cells

Hey guys, In case you are interested in an alternative to thundersky with more credibility (testing and warranty) and much higher discharge rates, there is a group buy being organised on DIY Electric Car for the not to decent future. There are no prices so far but it looks like the base price is aro...

The new bike I'm bidding on seems to have all the running gear- it just has carbi/choke problems but its got an aluminium frame, plenty of space for batteries and its dirt cheap. The auction finishes tomorrow night so I am pretty excited about this one.

Possible Donor Bike?

I found another less skeletal bike, an '84 Suzuki GSX250 for $500 pretty close to me, seems to be running. I might grab a motorcycling friend and go do an inspection. The only thing I am worried about is fitting 72V worth of batteries in.

Yeah I'm considering just going to some motorbike wreckers and seeing some bikes in person that I can pick up. The only problem is most running bikes of the size I want are selling for around $3000 which is a lot to get a safe bet.

The other problem is the lack of gauges. Does anyone know where a speedo on a bike gets its signal from and how difficult it would be to retrofit one on? I could just use one of those TomTom Rider things but it wouldn't work in tunnels etc. Anyone Got a decent solution?
