This was a one-off deal, so unlikely that it will be repeated again. Unless you want to buy their three buses and enjoy 1.5 MWh worth of battery with free bus chassis...

Re: Aluminium Air battery

So it's a primary battery then? Aluminium is interesting as it exists as a 3+ ion in most forms. That is, Al3+ requires 3 moles of electrons to become a metal. In other words, a boatload of electricity. So the 'stored' energy of a block of aluminium is significant. However it's not a rechargeable ba...

Re: Battery pack prices plummet

Looks fine from here, but the trick will be to fully charge it and check the voltages then, likewise when close to Turtle mode. That's where the big discrepancies are.

Will you have these on display in Brisbane next month?

PS You might want to check your corporate member status - I think it lapsed.

Re: EV Buyers Guide – choosing an EV type that suits you

In order of importance:

1. Available.
2. Affordable.
3. 200-250 km range on the highway (any more would be a waste)
4. Blue.

Re: 2018 Leaf spotted...

My CRX is pretty close to unserviceable, but I can't afford an EV to replace it. So I have to stump up to maintain it and sweath the two-wheeled options as long as I can. We would like to buy a used Leaf (maybe from Japan) in the first half of next year, but it's got to be under $14k. Very frustrati...

Re: AVASS Battery order details

The clearing account I'd set up had a payment of $525 in it referenced: "FERGUSON SOLAR BATTERIES". The amount looks like a half-payment but I have no matching records for it. Anyway, because of this extra payment I was able to pay the full shipping bill with $76 to spare. If not for this I would b...

Yep, that's correct. You are of course limited by speed now, so it won't be a particularly fast mover, but should move OK.

Nice one! I got the air cooled one for the Prelude conversion. If ends up running too hot I can always swap the fins for a cooling block.

Looks like I shouldn't try to sell my i-MiEV to Chris for Kat's "reliable car" as it would end up in pieces in the garage before long.
In that instance the CRX would be in pieces before the iMiEV...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

I think the first step will be to get your hands on an old iMiEV battery and pull it apart. Take your time and work out how many cells can be made to fit, without complicating the BMS placement and wiring. Then it should be a quick replacement job.

I'd add the Kangoo ZE to the list of EVs available now.

Also hope to be able to add the Ioniq EV + PHEV and the Kona EV to the list by year's end.
