Re: Replacement battery

Hi all, I'll be placing an order for these NMC cells. I don't have a Leaf upgrade planned just yet, but if anyone wants to buy some cells to add to the order let me know. I believe only the 100 Ah cells would be a convenient fit for the Leaf. They have a selection of NMC cells - 42 Ah, 60 Ah, 100 Ah...

Re: Aftermarket iMiEV battery upgrade project

Hi All,
I will be placing an order for these prismatic NMC cells before June 30. If anyone is interested in getting some, let me know. Probably best if based in WA but happy to ship them across to the East. I'll be getting the 60 Ah cells for the iMiEV conversion.
Cheers,
Chris

Sorry, I can't stop seeing Tony Abbott's "Suppository of all wisdom" in this title

It would be good if Plugshare could highlight the difference between CCS2 and CCS1 a bit better.

Re: Replacement battery

Yeah I haven't had the time to take a real good look at those 4s module spaces, but I see no reason they can't also sit upright, but perpendicular to the current LEV50s.

Edit - given the length of these cells it might be just as easy to lay them on their side.

You can see that the stacks of 8 cells per module have the LEV50 cells standing on their side, terminals pointing away from the viewer.
8 of the 60 Ah cells would occupy the same space as the 8 LEV50 cells, but as a 4 x 2 block with terminals pointing upwards.

Re: AEVA Non-Secure so Password Issue

We're in the process of sorting out a better website and membership database which comes with substantial costs, so encryption would no doubt be part of that.
Hopefully in time for the next AGM.

Re: Replacement battery

Hi Toby, unfortunately I can't easily fit the 84 Ah or 100 Ah cell options in the iMiEV case without a major re-work of the enclosure. The 60 Ah cells are still a lot of work, but they would actually fit and with minor hassle from the BMS. I will be placing an order for these NMC cells (60 Ah and 1...

Re: seeking advise - EV batteries oriented towards performance

The 30C/60C cells are 160 Wh/kg Hey now you're talkin  Yeah, but as Francisco mentioned the cycle life suffers with these cells. The layer of active material is so thin it's prone to structural failures, limiting the amount of charge which can be stored in the matrix. Cooling will definite...

Re: Prelude conversion project - some questions

Frustratingly, the flywheel sits 10 mm too proud of the plate face! How on Earth did I manage this? I had the flywheel thickness correct but must have forgotten to subtract the offset at the hub mounts or something... 20190519_105303.jpg 20190519_104457.jpg In any case the motor can be mounted 10 mm...

Re: seeking advise - EV batteries oriented towards performance

@jonescg Because I am not good at math, how do your packs compare price wise and density wise to the ElMofo packs? Those things look pretty amamzing but also pretty expensive. Yours look pretty damn nice too. https://www.elmofo.com.au/lithium-batteries.html Pricewise, my packs are a bit cheaper tha...

Yep that's crazy power.

Two different cells in operation ;)

The 30C/60C cells are 160 Wh/kg

The 2C/5C cells are 208 Wh/kg

Re: What is happening with Renault EVs in Australia?

Yeah it's pretty disappointing the radio silence. They were struggling to get them in at one point, so I reckon they have put a self-imposed stop-sale on them. It's possibly been too effective. I'm borrowing a Demo Zoe to drive to Esperance in a couple of weeks. Shirwin had no problem letting me tak...

Re: seeking advise - EV batteries oriented towards performance

What's your budget? I build high powered LiPo battery packs which deliver crazy power, and have respectable energy density (160 Wh/kg) but as a built pack are about $1250/kWh. So definitely not cheap, but they will be fairly light and even the most powerful inverters and motors would struggle to kee...

I ended up buying Rob Dean's AVASS battery for my home storage needs, using the proceeds from the sale of my PowerCabinet. These cheap BMS units also tend to draw power from the first two cells, so if left for a while they can unbalance the pack in short order.
