Hi,
I am posting this because I think it's really great news: A cheap 500V, 300A controller for AC!

It's not DTC or FOC, but I bet this will be available soon. Here it is:

http://johanneshuebner.com/quickcms/index.html%3Fen_products,18.html

Development was/is discussed in this thread:

http://www.diyelectriccar.com/forums/showthread.php/another-homebrew-ac-controller-45909.html

How sad I bought my Curtis a few month's ago...crap! Well, at least I know I will be able to afford something better in the future.

A very informative website too! Not many places describe how inverters or VFDs work quite as clearly.
I challenge you to come up with a better invention than the bicycle

Alarm bells are ringing
asking PCB gap sizing, how does a current sensor work...
Very concerning.
Open loop V/F - I'm sure he'll find out soon enough what that'll be like on the road...

I hope he really isn't expecting 240kW from it

Compare it to this: https://www.facebook.com/mauswerkz

If the sun's not up turn your lights ON - duh! Help prevent road rage - get outta my way!!

Well, he has been driving his car recently. I guess it's not so terrible.
Anyway, I have experienced the difference between constant V/f and FOC control in my Quad. Constant V/f was ok in the road but very poor at low speeds; I guess it's better with gearing (we have direct transmission).

I am pretty sure there are better controllers in the works, but this one is available now and I think that's great news. I have not checked if the software is OS also. Implementing FOC or DTC woul be possible then.

Hi long time since ive been on this forum :).

Yeah this inverter looks like DIY project because Johannes is a software guy not a machinnist. But inverter works i can assure you with my 370Vdc 300A system that works now a year and cca 30kKm.

Heh once i even drove on 2 phases home due to my stupid mistake and transistor blown!!! Try that with other AC inverters.

My build is detailed here, but Johannes is still developing software for it.

try slovenian language translator... It has some interesting features. Check his/my site for progress.
